For my wedding, first dance was "You Do Something To Me" by Ella Fitzgerald. Liked the song so much that when we had our daughter a few years later, we named her Ella! Cut the cake to The Beatles' In My Life Did the walk-in to the reception, with all the bridesmaids and groomsmen to Shaft....

I listened to a copy yesterday, and was a little disappointed at some songs sounding a bit sterile (I tihnk due to the double tracking of the vocals), and some songs, if you know the original, just can't live up to it (Care of Cell 44). That said, She May Call You Up Tonight, wow....

Maybe more so back in the day where writers and singers were not the same person. Watching American Idol last night (don't ask, I'm a big guilty pleasure watcher of crap TV), I was struck at the lack of emotion or understanding of Bewitched Bothered & Bewildered versus say, Ella Fitzgerald's ver...

wwallace already posted the setlist, so I'll just post my thoughts. all in all, a really nice night. We had 2d row on the side of the stage opposite the piano, so we didn't get to see Nieve so much, just his red socks, and the melodca seemed to have trouble during Almost Blue. But seeing him 3 times...

30 minutes should be fine if you've been downtown before, know where you're going, etc. Otherwise, plan for more time, just because of all the one way streets, etc. Parking for all the downtown theaters are underground and semi-connected, it's not too bad.

I want to get this, but I thought they were going to release it at the same time in 5.1, like Bulletin & Yoshimi. I don't really want to buy it twice. I'm in Houston and hope they come through too. They're playing Austin City Limits festival, so I'd guess at least one more texas show...

Nowhere http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000002LNM.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Layer upon layer of tangled guitars ,heavenly vocal harmonies and the tunes to wrap it all around. Not a weak track on the album. Beware - if your stoned and listen to this record at loud volume it WILL take the top ...

10 favorite albums - for today at least!

Here's mine. 1. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea An album that everytime I hear it, I have to hear the whole thing. I love everything about it, from the choice of instrumentation (sometimes sparse, sometimes, everything and the kitchen sink - saws, horns), and tackles a difficult c...

Human Amusements At Hourly Rates Yes, its a best of, but Im still working my way around the Guided By Voices discography. For me, it's the sound of her voice, very smoky, etc, so when she does have a good song, she can make it better. To me, there are a lot of same-sounding songs on Moon Pix, and only the ones that are any different stand out - Cross Bone Style has a nice groove, Color & The Kids, love that one. Bu...

"Maybe Not" - Cat Power What do you think of that record? I'm still so infatuated with THE GREATEST, I haven't even thought about working back through the older stuff. I'm a Cat Power fan since I heard Nude As The News on a Matador sampler in 1997. HOWEVER, other than the title track and ...
