Actually, I suspect there is probably some poor bastard intern, sitting in a cubicle at EC's management company who has the miserable task of combing the internet--including this site--and reporting anything of real interest to his superiors...

You can mark me down as being pro-NR. And I also agree that it's not one of his very best, but it's not a track I skip. Quite listenable. For me it's the Grandson of Waiting For The End Of The World , the Son of Invasion Hit Parade , Brother of Turpentine , etc... Hope he always adds to this lineage...

Kim Kardashian - I really don't get the whole phenomenon. Who is she, where did she come from and does she have any talent? Two words: Sex tape. Followed by reality show, and the rest is history. Maybe our man needs to follow this path to success. The conventional approach is no longer working. :lo...

NR#2...instrumentally, I really love it. As CWR said--striving for a certain effect. I'd say he achieves it. A fun and interesting tidbit. Hope there will be more like it as he wanders through Asia. Maybe a new take on Tokyo Storm Warning...

Re: The Return Of The Imposter: National Ransom No.2

This is the Tom Waits version, is it. Yes...with a bit of that weird middle section of The Bridge I Burned & some Stalin Malone, as well. I like the video very much...lots of cool imagery. I feel like he might have actually made it himself--or at least most of it--playing around with I-Movie ov...

Sunday...going alone. Row G, Center Orch. Tix must be pretty hot--couldn't get 2 together. Checked Stubhub...prices are INSANE.
Monday...Mr. Ypsilanti coming with. Orch 2, Row O. Best I could do.

Still, I'm pretty excited about this...

40 slots on the wheel is not enough. Once you fill some up with covers and the mandatory stuff like Alison, Detectives, etc, there's only room for about 1 song per album.

Have never heard my beloved Motel Matches live. Would love to hear that...

I avoided PTC for a long time because I assumed the '80's poppiness would not be to my taste...and the very notion seemed so anti-Elvis. But I was totally wrong! I love this record and listen to it often. And while it has some '80's vibe, it's miles above all that Duran Duran/Fixx/Flock of Seagulls/...

I ran this from start to finish unintentionally yesterday. I wanted to hear the title track and just let it run through to I Hope. I only grows in my appreciation with each listen. The ballads in particular are growing on me. Totally agree. I took a little break from NR, but then found I was longin...

I would hate to think I'd never get to see a Sugarcanes show again...such a phenomenal experience to see them live! But, of course, there might well be a few 'Canes dates in 2011, just as there were a few Imposters shows in 2010... Agree, however, that NR deserved WAY better than it got. It's a bitt...

An EC LP that's "overwrought and overwritten"? That's like saying the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is "too busy"! :P All kidding aside, ATUB is way up there on my EC list -- top 3 or 4 easily. The lazy comparison is with IB, of course, but I've always thought of it as perhaps t...
