Re: The Delivery Man

The 'new' songs Elvis has been performing the last few shows have actually been knocking around for a while as part of a 'song cycle' called The Delivery Man . He and Steve did some of them first back in late 1999. But the songs played recently were not among those played in 1999. I don't think it'...

For some reason Goodbye Cruel World has replaced King of America in the next batch, so it will be Almost Blue , Goodbye Cruel World , and Kojak Variety . The last announced release date was April, but that's beginning to look overly optimistic. Here's my latest plug for the "Elvis Costello on R...

Does anyone have the slightest idea what song the second Elvis impersonator was trying to do? (He said it was from King of America, but I sure didn't recognize it.)

It occurs to me that Bruce Thomas has actually worked with Pete Townshend before, as part of Paul McCartney's "Rockestra" project in 1979.

Since it was previously reported that The Who was using Greg Lake on bass, I'm guessing they're not limiting themselves to a single bass player on the new album.

Sad to say, I failed to get tickets to the House of Blues show (that'll teach me to borrow the credit card number without also getting the security code). I'm hoping to find someone with extras, although with the concert so soon in the future, I'm afraid the odds aren't good.

Aside from "Shamed into Love," there's a second Costello/Blades composition on the album called "The Miranda Syndrome."

I like them both.

I'd like to believe that the February release date is accurate. But in light of the fact that they've previously been announced as coming in April, I think it's far more likely that John's information is outdated than that they've been moved up two months.

I'd love to be wrong.

The "Singles" box sets were scheduled for release in the UK yesterday. Has anyone seen them? I'm still waiting for Amazon UK to ship my order.

Misha...

Were all of the songs you tried to request (aside from "High Fidelity") actually played?

I'd be curious to know if they told people songs were "taken" when they really just weren't on a list of approved songs.

Indeed, it turns out there are two versions of the song. The official release says "I may be your man," while the advance release (the one I have, anyway) says, "you may be my man."

Strange!
