It may be out of print, but at the time I thought "The Up Escalator" a pretty credible follow-up to the amazing "Sparks", adjusting for the inevitable post-masterpiece letdown.

This sounds SO cool. Have fun, my East coast friends.

(And, Brian-the-new-guy -- I think you and I are the only people on this board to have confessed an affection for "Party, Party." EC himself disowned it himself years ago, but what does he know?)

One thing about Clinton, I think it's safe to say that he plays saxophone the way the his successor governs.

Hey, I've actually spoken with a soon-to-be Rock and Roller Hall of Famer. (I had a office temp job working with the construction company for a new music publishing Jerry Moss and Herb Alpert were opening in the late eighties/early nineties. In typical fashion, it was Jerry and not Herb that I met.)

I'm so out of touch with both the good and the bad of new music, that this is the first of heard of James Blunt.

I wonder if that was his given name, or if "James Marijuana" just seemed too obvious.

RIP Gordon Parks

Great photographer, race-bar breaking film-director. "Shaft" may not have been the greatest cop film of all time, but boy did the photography shimmer. That aside, obviously a major league guy. I really need to see "The Learning Tree." I definitely want to revisit his photography ...

Hey, you have the same birthday as my younger nephew. You aren't a good bowler, with a penchant for gross-out comedies, are you?

I didn't think so and, in that case, have an especially great birthday season!

As far as I can tell, you don't lack luster --- but then it's hard to see shine over the internet.

He's in Jennifer Jason Leigh's and Alan Cumming's "The Anniversary Party" as Leigh's violinist best pal and much is made of his resemblance to the young Peter Sellers. He's apparently a session violinist (I looked him on up Wikipedia and found him on the musicians listing on a Ryan Adams a...

With any luck, this thing will at least have as much legs as when Jimmy Carter got attacked by that rabbit. I CANNOT WAIT for the next Daily Show. Still, as I'm sure they'll mention, they really don't have to add very much to it. Pure real-life comedy gold, since the guy apparently wasn't too badly ...
