Well, an apple does get lodged in there, strange detail to remember but yeah that's basically it. What they taught us was that Gregor's Metamorphosis could be a metaphor for any emotional problem or drug abuse, alcoholism, anorexia, et. al. What I thought was (And this has probably already been thou...

I already like Kafka, I enjoyed the book tremendously and look forward to reading other works by him. It is the writing prompts that are insufferable. In both the novel, The Metamorphosis, and the play, Becket, some of the most significant events are mental or psychological; for example, awakenings,...

Look out, double-posting! I always feel like such an insufferable snot when I write.... The internal almost becomes the external, and anything external serves to physically manifest the internal. Why do I care about the internal changes and meaning of death in The Metamorphosis and Becket ? Actually...

But yeah, no use joining if you're just going to lurk! Come out of the shadows, folk!

That was definitely sad as all hell. People who can't spell really don't help their arguments at all. I've actually had the 'Which Elvis is better' argument with my dad many times. He seems to rely on the 'he brought white people to black music' argument. I argue that some-one else would have done i...

It is a lovely song off of an even lovlier album. Favourites are always subject to change, but this isn't one of them for me. I will always love KOA for being my first somewhat country-fied album. It was really my introduction into something other than the punky new wave stuff, and every time I list...

*sigh* I always say, if I could go back in time, I'd go to a Spinning Songbook show. Unfortunately, I wasn't even thought of yet. But its great reading the recollections, even if it makes me green with envy.

*gasp* I'd never feel bad about Squeeze. I revel in my dorkiness. I put on a whole show, providing that no-one else is around. Fake microphone and all......

I'm going to write down everything I listen to for a week, song by song. I thought it would be interesting to see if any trends develop. My friends are just like 'Why?' It might get a little difficult on the weekend, when my headphones are more less strapped to my head. We always have Indian Summers...

Started Becket in class yesterday. About St. Thomas Becket, King Henry II's good Saxon friend. It's ok so far. Enough perceived homoerotic innuendo to keep a bunch of 17-18 year olds happy. Other than that, not too shabby. Once I get a chance, I'll actually start reading for pleasure again.

Bankrupted myself (I don't have a job, apart from baby-sitting), but my most recent outing yielded Dusty In Memphis , Soviet Kitsch , and a box of classical. (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky (probably butchered that), and Chopin). Sort of a 'greatest hits' thing. This was sometime last weekend,...

Actually, I don't have Begin To Hope. I'm rather green all music, in fact. Just getting into the good stuff, thanks in big part to you guys.... I'm a big fan (of Soviet Kitsch), and I got it on the strength of Us . It's got a lot of quirky stuff on it, which I like, but I've heard that's it's...

What I fear is that he will release a pop-tastic piece of crap that will get tons of airtime, and like Prince in "Purple Rain", people will swoon to him because he discarded the creativity and captured the cliche. So, the whole world will "dig" Elvis, except those who know bette...

That would be 'Baby It's You.' Weekday television sucks. They're making a memorial park right up the street for the folks who died in the flood in '96. They were nice, and gave out a lot of candy. I just hope they don't put a playground up there. Just a few benches would suffice. And what is it abou...

Just wanted to say that I obtained that Replacements song you were telling me about somewhere on here, pophead, and I sat and nodded 'Yeah, that's about it.' They pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as teenager-dom goes.
And now I'm off with MAIT 30th!
