Their first couple of albums (thinks aloud...was it one or two?) on the Bizarre label were interesting if not impressive, and then he/they put out a couple of absolute gems in "Love it to Death" and "Killer" after which they put out some quite acceptable music with "School's...

Sad (well, not really... he was 83 after all, so he had a good innings). I did manage to see him perform once in a concert in 1974 or 75 along with Fred Frith's band Henry Cow - I think perhaps Robert Wyatt was involved in this performance as well. Can't recall the venue, but it may have been the Ra...

If anything, I think the Oscars have gotten more credible in recent years. Crash may not have been my first choice for Best Picture, but it's by all accounts a very indie-styled film. Loaded with celebrities, certainly, but many of whom worked for way less than they usually do (you can thank Don Ch...

I think the Oscars have almost managed to erode away their own credibility over the years and that they will soon be a thing of the past. It seems to me that events such as Sundance, Cannes, and the Venice Film Festival are becoming more representative of what is really going on in the world of film...

As I was driving, I was listening to a gardening program on our local ABC radio station (our equivalent top the BBC) over the weekend and the hosts who are a couple of fairly "ordinary" gardening show presenters (comon-all-garden variety?) were chatting with a guest who for some reason beg...

Spooky... I know exactly how you feel. The pain will pass but hopefully all of the wonderful memories you have of this person won't. I lost both parents to the dreaded Jimmy Dancer; both smoked heavily for a large part of their respective lives, one ended up with liver cancer of all things, and the ...

Congrats!! I trust that the ceremony will be accompanied by the appropriate collection of Costello melodies.

Perhaps that can be the next "Tower of" or similar project for this forum... Tower of EC Melodies for a Blue and Red Wedding?

One thing that seems to have been overlooked while making all of these criticisms regarding the author's comments is the following line: " Through casual interviews with music fans, I've compiled a list of 20 "new classic" albums, in chronological order of release. " I would say ...

Close to the Edit - Art of Noise
Peter Gunn Theme - not the Art of Noise
Zorba's Theme - Mikas Theodorakis(sp?)
Ayatollah harmony - The Members

Maybe not everybody's cup of tea, but all very good instrumentals at the particular time they appeared.
