Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Southend on Sea, 19 June 2013

Mine still haven't arrived either. I did have a look at the email I received when I bought the tickets back in September and it says they may come in the week leading up to the show. And if I had not received them 48 hours before get in touch. I get the feeling the show isn't going to be that well a...

75 might be over doing it I reckon he will no more than 60.

I wanted to go Thetford forest but as I cant drive its not an easy place for me to get to.

I have never seen Elton and always wanted to so this is a perfect opportunity for me and the missus to have a night out.

Sulky I would trust your review above EBTG any day.
Perhaps he was too happy for them. Frank Skinner once said he prefers Elvis when he is miserable.

There is a distinct lack of celebrity guests this time round.

Costello ranked "Jimmie Standing In The Rain" #4 on his own personal top 100!

I always visualize 'Jimmie' with black and white credits and being the play out song on a Woody Allen movie

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play RAH, London 5 June '13

I saw that Everything But The Girl departed early. Not sure what they expected, seems they were not happy with the spinning songbook or 'the mousetrap' as they called it. Not that I have anything against either of them. Due to the wonders of Twitter I have spoke boxing with Ben and got gardening adv...

I cant believe Elvis is playing three London shows and I won't be at any of them. Saving it for my hometown Southend.

Have a great night everyone

Re: Elvis and The Imposters with others in Hyde Park July 12

At least Elvis won't have the competing presence of a giant screen showing Germany pissing all over England this time! And he will be with the Imposters. The Sugarcanes were not suited to a big open air gig IMO. I will probably go to this rather than Thetford Forest. I quite like Elton and have nev...

Re: Elvis/The Imposters, Southend on Sea, 19 June 2013

In a revival of my Costello Tourism habit I've decided to go to this show. Verbal tells me this will a 'standing' show which suits me just fine . It'll also be about half way through the U.K. tour so the band should be well into the swing of things. It'll also be good to catch up with some U.K.fans....

Re: 'a newspaper picture..A woman was kissing a child'

There must be distinctly different people buy from Amazon and iTunes. TTDD is currently at number 4 in the Amazon UK Charts (number 2 when filtered to pop) and yet number 134 in iTunes. Would have been great to hear TTDD on a top 40 show! The London Evening Standard said it was 'bubbling under', th...

Re: 'a newspaper picture..A woman was kissing a child'

I know Poland was certainly a country that benefitted from the break up of the Soviet Bloc (or whatever you want to call it) My wife at the time was from a Polish family and I know the country improved no end for the rise of Solidarity etc at the time. Funny how it started from the unions being form...

Re: 'a newspaper picture..A woman was kissing a child'

I watched The Late Show clip of Elvis singing last night on youtube. It might sound a strange this to say but you could feel the hatred coming off him. The song is mentioned in many of the UK press today following George Galloway's tweet. I dont know how these things work does it mean because its 23...

Re: Big gig regrets

Back to Bowie, Glass Spider wasn't even in my consciousness as something I might attend, but I think Sound + Vision was. I was in Madrid at the time, but I think if he played there, I was travelling. Were there no keyboards even? There may have been but I cant remember them. Perhaps one of the band ...

If you can bear a load of 17 and 18 year olds 'partying' to crap music you are all more than welcome. Plus they will need me to buy the alcohol so they will be going 'dry'

Thanks for the advice on where to stay.

I may give the dogging a miss

6000 according to the UEA ticket website: http://www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk/venues/thetford-forest1.aspx Seen Crowded House and the Beach Boys (without Brian) in other years - pretty good outdoor venue in the Forest. A Saturday gig would allow a walk first. Otis - James tickets are still on sale o...

I suppose the band that really springs to mind is Nirvana. Although I'm not a massive fan. A couple of friends of mine often used to go and see them when they toured with Mudhoney and Tad. Sadly there was always something I was doing at the time and I could never make it. This was a while before the...

Re: Oliver's Army censored by BBC 6Music

It is me I cursed it. I was talking to a friend on work last week about karaoke of all things and I mentioned to him that if you sing Oliver's Army it is changed to white figure.

And that when it is played on the radio they never blank the 'n' word out. Seems like I spoke to soon.
