Re: Farewell, OK 2020: new song!

This is very strange.
Why post a new song then take it down after 48 hours with no explanation? And also delete the tweets associated with it?
Hopefully it will reappear soon in some form or other - it was very enjoyable!!

Re: The Complete Armed Forces (Super Deluxe Edition)

Pretty sure 'Busy Bodies' is the same alternative take that's on the Rhino/Edsel 2002 bonus disc? I wouldn’t know - Not everyone has managed to get copies of these, I’m afraid. Do you know where I can download Rhino versions? I don't, to be honest. The (very lovely) Edsel/Rhino double-disc editions...

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

I do think the second half could’ve done with one more upbeat song. It’s very heavy on the slower ones. But my favourite slow song, which I haven’t seen many people mention, is I Do (Zula’s Song). Anyone else have a soft spot for this? I wonder who or what Zula is. Frankie I agree with both your po...

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

https://americansongwriter.com/hey-clockface-elvis-costello-album-review/ How Hey Clockface will be judged alongside Costello’s seminal classics — My Aim Is True, Armed Forces, This Year’s Model et. al. — remains to be seen. After all, some would argue that his last essential album was All This You...

I’m a big fan of Nicole Atkins too. Saw her supporting Eels several years ago and followed her ever since. Excellent songwriter and singer. Amazing that someone so talented can be so relatively unknown - even to the cognoscenti like Elvis.

Re: Armed Forces (Super Deluxe Edition)

I don't think I could be more disappointed both over content and separately of price. If it had been £60 to £80 I may have been tempted in spite of the lack of any real rarities. £180 -£200? No. Who is this aimed at? Certainly not hard core fans from the looks of all our responses. People with more ...

I agree Verbal.
There have been some shocking early exits in these polls but this one is the strangest in my book. Clearly some fans appreciate different things in EC’s music than I do!!

Re: New album Hey Clockface will be released October 30, 2020

As a part time ebay seller (WITH ALL THE CRAP HERE I WILL ONE DAY BE FULL TIME!!) i must pitch the woes of Air Mail rates. Many sellers will not even sell worldwide. I do...but years ago, i could send a cd or a 45 ANYWHERE for $5 or 6. An lp would cost about $11 or so. And i am talking as recently ...

It's annoying that there isn't a European or UK store to order from. Being just US makes ordering the LP from there too expensive compared to Amazon etc. Would like to support EC's online store more but extra postage costs prohibit this, except for very light items.

Accidents for me too - and I didn't think it was too hard a decision. I've always felt that whilst Oliver's Army is good, it's a song for the general public whilst Accidents Will Happen is for the EC connoisseur. I may be being a bit of an Elvis snob though!!

Agree with the WIWC likeness - seems like a cousin of Spooky Girlfriend with a bit of Hurry Down Doomsday for good measure.
It is fun downloading these with little warning - but I hope there will be vinyl/CD compilation of these tracks in due course (for us oldies).

This looks like a repeat from round 3?
Chemistry Class seems to have gone?
Shame, but losing the first 5 or 6 tracks on this one is nowhere near the same pain as Imperial Bedroom or This Year’s Model, for instance.

The votes for You Belong to Me and Chelsea stick out like a sore thumb. 40 odd extra votes all for them. Multiple votes by one person pissing about.

Needs outside arbitration!! Reinstate those two!

It's barely believable that Chelsea would go, and The Beat and Lip Service remain, if it had just been voted on by discerning board members...
