Amazing song, written by the Hungarian Rezsô Seress in 1933. (he jumped to his death in 1968) Supposedly some in Hungary took their lives after hearing the song, or at least ledt part of the lyrics as suicide notes... but it is actually not a depressing song, when heard in whole. It was Hal Kemp who...

Elvis doesn't have the sense of melody he had before he learnt how to read music. Bacharach clearly injected that element I disagree.. well at least after hearing "clings like ivy" and the other songs from the new album !! but you are probably corretc... it happended with Macca and Lennon

It will definitely be worth it to hear AlmostBlue :-) But April 27 is a long wait !
Elvis claims this is the new defacto standard for AlmostBlue.
Better than Chet Baker's, better than Elvis Costello's, etc.

it is worth getting Sweetest punch simply because it was an independent path based on faxes, phone calls, etc. and EC stated that he liked the results.. and it is less "Alfie / Look of Love" like than PFM...and EC has a guest appearance.. also, it is always intreesting to hear a cover of E...

Elvis Composing While Driving to Portland

Steve told us that on the way to Portland Elvis was driving alone in his car with his guitar and powerbook on his knee, composing new songs.
While I am glad I was not on the same road, I am very pleased that the effort continues.
