Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

I. Am. So. Friggin. Excited. That is all. Perhaps this is the true motivation for Elvis's little experiment? There was little build up to the release of the record, since it is initially being released on vinyl the chances of it leaking to torrents or p2p is rather small, so we all have to wait for...

Elvis lookalike on Seinfeld

I was watching a Seinfeld rerun and snagged a couple pics with my phone of a real impostor! Don't recall this episode for some reason, but I thought I'd share it with you guys! The hat, glasses, and suit are pretty much all there is, but still humorous. Excuse the poor quality, took em off my tv! ht...

I liked when Bill asked Elvis "how he has done it?" and went on to point out that Elvis has never made any huge mistakes or had any scandals surrounding him, and Elvis just kind of looked at him like, "oh....he doesn't know about that one time". Great appearance. Didn't know abou...

I can't believe anything but Fish 'n Chip Paper got last place. I like the song, but the lyric the title is based around makes me cringe every time.

Painted from Memory had Bacharach's fanbase to reach out to, though, this is strictly Costello, I'd doubt we'd get any official music book, but you can hope someone here might have the chords worked out for you.

I wouldn't call "Pills and Soap" hip hop, it's certainly EC's answer to hip hop at the time, but I think "The Bridge I Burned" is absolutely a hip hop song in the only way EC could pull hip hop off correctly.

EC could pull off hip hop if he did more songs in the vein of "The Bridge I Burned', utilizing the beats, etc. but if he actually raps, then Goodbye Cruel World will be looking like a classic!

Yeah, I've always heard it as "to murder, my love, is a crime" rather than "to murder my love is a crime", not sure why I just can't think of it any other way, though.

I'm not saying you did it to get at me. I haven't listened to that record since it came out, honestly, so I can't go track by track with you. I do love a few songs on there, but I do remember there being like 5 or 6 tracks in the format I suggested. Maybe you look at them differently, but I get both...

Way too many songs on the record are essentially put together like 'Ape Dos Mil' is. Ignoring minor differences in time changes, so many songs have that soft, assuring verse leading to crushing power chord chorus that seems to be post-hardcore meets power ballad. That really annoyed me about the rec...

It's okay. The songs are fairly formulaic, but there are a few good ones. Everything... was decent just because of how amazingly pissed off of a record it was, but this one is just wishy washy.

I'm not looking for another debate. I'm just saying he did go downhill, however slightly. I'm not one who believes EC is crap now, I'm just saying I believe, while he is still fabulous and his latter records still rank high on my overall list of fav albums, they aren't quite as high as those early o...

I checked your post in that thread where we ranked our favorite EC albums, and your top 5 were all from this time period, WHAR, so I think you'd say that, too. I'm not saying EC has put tons of crap after that. The only record I really have distaste for is GCW, everything else has at least been pret...

You're telling me that EC has put out 6 original studio albums in a row as solid as MAIT through IB? Please. Stop trying to make things personal, being young in age doesn't mean you have to act childish, good sir. We shall overcome.

Screw implying it, I'd say EC did go downhill after that. He hasn't been as consistent since the time leading up to IB.

Seriously! Alibi is great, but it really just feels like "I Want You 2" and like most sequels, doesn't live up to its predecessor. That menacing tone of "I Want You" is just conveyed so perfectly, from the seemingly innocent intro to the sinister body of the rest of the song. &qu...

The "lame intro" is one of the things that makes that song such a classic.
