Re: Elvis to Guest on Ralph Stanley Album, Jan 2015

Got a copy yesterday. Bit of a haul getting there (not exactly in my neighborhood) but the shop had a TON of copies in stock. It's clearly being heavily promoted by them. Didn't stay for lunch.

People like to discuss EC's unlikely collaborations, but I'm pretty sure EC/Lars Ulrich has instantly vaulted to the top.

Re: New book: The Words and Music of Elvis Costello

Not his first EC book: http://www.amazon.com/Elvis-Costello-Bio-Bibliography-Bio-Bibliographies-Music/dp/0313303991 I remember that book annoyed me by stating that the Not With That Clown compilation CD had a unique "acoustic version" of "I Want You." A fun disc, but needless to ...

Re: T-Bone / Dylan project: Lost On The River

It's sort of stunning how Costello-ey the Lost on the River songs are. Pretty sure if we were under the understanding that they were 100% EC compositions, we'd have no idea the truth was otherwise.

Re: SANTA CRUZ: new EC or old BOB DYLAN lyrics?

The new edition of Sid Griffin's "Million Dollar Bash" (which surveys the Basement Tapes) mentions a song with the name "Santa Cruz" as a rumored Basement Tape recording. Although he discusses the "Lost On The River" project elsewhere in the book (and indeed, later in t...

Re: The New Basement Tapes radio performances

Extra verse added to "Hack", if I'm not mistaken..... Dave Definitely a new verse, but at first listen it doesn't seem like it'll be easy to transcribe! At least not by me. I would guess it's fully written by EC, as it doesn't appear on the manuscript (which ended midway through the "...

The full album is terrific. So much so that even if I came into it as foremost as a Costello fan, many of my personal highlights are non-EC tracks like "Diamond Ring" and "Florida Key."

Nope. But my local B&N finally got copies of the Tom Waits special issue, so I imagine they'll be carrying the EC one too in the next few weeks.

Re: SANTA CRUZ: new EC or old BOB DYLAN lyrics?

The lyrics seem Dylan-ey to me, but maybe it's just as likely that EC wrote it in Dylan's style after having been immersed in the Lost on the River songs?

Think we'll see this stocked in the US? I Didn't have any luck finding their Tom Waits special issue from a couple months ago, even at places that usually stock Uncut.

Re: Elvis (solo) in Hamburg (Germany) October 7th

I took it to mean that the SHOW would feature "the very best of Elvis Costello" but who knows. You're probably right, but isn't it weird that the original article referred to "The Very Best Of Elvis Costello" in English, while the rest of the article (aside from the names of alb...

Is this article suggesting a new Greatest Hits compilation is coming this year? Or is that just quirky phrasing from Google Translate?

Terrific catch! And yeah, it seems reasonable, based on what we know, that each singer will get their turn in the spotlight.

It's interesting that so many songs (three as of tomorrow, and the album is about a month and a half away) are being previewed so early. Is this the new world of music retail, where Amazon pre-orders are EVERYTHING?

Not that I'm complaining. Absolutely loving what I've heard so far.

Thanks for posting that. Great article, and it unexpectedly confirms (courtesy of EC) something that I believe was previously only rumored, namely that Dylan's new album is all covers and that it's "insanely good" (at least according to T-Bone).

Re: T-Bone / Dylan project: Lost On The River

There is an article on this in today's Sunday Times. Based on a description I read, I believe it has a new interview with T-Bone and EC. However it's behind a paywall:
