Re: "Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance" - docu. - BBC4 Nov. 8 '1

I was struck by the similarity between the young Ross and Elvis, and the similarity between the dancing in If I Had a Hammer and I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down. Great stuff!

Re: New album for 2013: "Wise Up Ghost" (with The Roots!)

The Daily MIrror had a short review which gave the album 3 stars (out of 5) and called EC "a doom-monger" with "often suspect vocals" but picked out Tripwire for high praise.

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

I have just heard the new album from The Strypes - a very young band from Cavan, Ireland. You will like it if you like Dr Feelgood, Nine Below Zero etc. The reason for this post is that the album contains a version of Nick Lowe's Heart of the City, which will be familiar to most on hear, particularl...

I could avoid noticing on the news that a royal baby and future king has been born. St Mary's, Paddington - Isn't that our king Elvis was born? I doubt it was in the £5000 per night room though.

Re: Elvis UK Tour 2013

Just a quick point - I had forgotten what a great song All Grown Up was!

Also, when was the last time EC performed without a hat? I think it was when he did Penny Lane at the White House on June 2nd 2010.

Re: EC/Imposters play Glastonbury, June 29, 2013

The Radio Times Glastonbury preview referred to EC as an "evergreen agitator." He should have sung Nothing Clings Like Ivy (ha ha). I thought his singing was a bit flat on Shipbuilding as well. Do those new earphones he is wearing this tour have an effect do you think? I noticed at Liverpo...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Birmingham, 31 May '13

If no-one has answered BA's question yet, FRIDAY NIGHT IN BIRMINGHAM is from the Uriah Heep double live album. In the early 70's it was obligatory for heavy rock bands to bring out a live double LP, usually with a drum solo on side 4 which made the invention of the CD and the "skip" button...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Liverpool, 10 June '13

Great show and great to meet Sulky (fleetingly) and I did see Mr & Mrs Top Balcony across the crowded stalls - sorry I didn't get to talk to you. I had a terrible seat on the extreme left, so couldn't see most of the Imposters, though a good view of the lady in the go go cage, so I can't complai...

I realised yesterday that I have bought a "premium package" which, according to the ticketmaster website, entitles me to so EC related goodies when I collect my ticket. Anyone got theirs yet?

There was a question featuring EC on University Challenge (UK quiz programme) over Christmas. They played some Christmas songs and the teams had to guess the artist. First up was St Stephen's Day Murders!

Re: Elvis on Diana's new album "Glad Rag Doll"

Did anyone see the live review in (I think) Uk music mag Mojo? It said Diana ended a song by banging her forearm on the keyboard which was more Mick McManus than Declan MacManus. For our overseas readers, Mick McManus was an English wrestler in the 1970's.

I've never like the Stones and at £104 - £450 for a ticket plus £31 booking fee, I think I will give them a miss on this occasion.

Royal Court Theatre 20th July 1996

Has anyone got a recording of this show? I am trying to get recordings of the shows I have attended. Top Balcony was probably there and Sulky has recorded every show since the Flip City days so i am sure a copy exists. Jub Jub supported (Alan Bleasedale's son was in the band). During the shows at th...

I know we are all used to the horrors of booking fees etc, but at the Liverpool Phil I just paid £2.50 to collect my tickets from the box office. How do they justify that? I'm in a curmudgeonly mood today.

Also, I saw someone on BBC3's Reading/Leeds coverage last night who sang a couple of lines from Ju...

Re: George Peckham, aka Porky Prime Cut

A lot of vinyl LPs in the 70s and 80s had "Another Porky Prime Cut" scratched into the run out grooves. As mere kids we thought our LPs had been vandalised in the shop!
