Thanks Ready, "Some Like it Hot" is amazing!

Forgive my ignorance, but is it possible to burn the mp3s onto a normal CD and run it on a normal CD player?

A few thoughts: I'm glad Bruce Thomas DID play with Elvis, as with a couple of other blokes, they created some of the best music in history. I'm also glad, in a different way, that the relationship broke down. Not just so that songs like How to be Dumb could be written. Albums like KoA and Spike cou...

Hi again. Sorry it's been so long. I've been preoccupied writing a 2500 essayon Froissart in four days. There's so much to talk about. Well, the first thing is that I'm glad it was King of America that my dad got my Mum, and not Goodbye Cruel World. Then I probably wouldn't be here, and I don't thin...

I can't bring myself to though, I don't like hating things. Welcome oldhamer. You can hate Chelsea, just like everyone else. ;-) Thanks, and hi! I've introduced myself proper in "That Bugger Elvis" in general discussion. It's no fun hating chelsea. Where's the effort in that? City ...

I didn't know Chris Clark did a version! I thought it was a cover of a Smokey Robinson and the Miracles song, on this:

I like the CD, and well worth getting. It's got me into country music......

I love Kid About it! I could listen to Elvis sing "Say you won't kid about it" for hours. It's entrancing. So agree that should be on an alternative "best of". Town Cryer's a good finish to the album, though it's not a gem for me. Perhaps the string bit at the end's a bit long. H...

That Bugger Elvis...

Hello to you all, Some of you may have seen me flitting around, and I thought perhaps I ought to introduce myself). I'm 18 (does that make me the baby of the forum.......?) and I'm attempting to study History at Birmingham University. I've been brainwashed by Elvis, basically. Blue Chair was on the ...

What's the problem with Costello's voice? He sings brilliantly! Fools.

Might as well keep all the under appreciated gems in this thread... I love Satellite. The first verse if just beautiful. As with most people on this board, Spike's one of my favourite EC albums, and Satellite's among the best tracks on it. I am sure there are several under-appreciated gems, but the ...

My copy arrived yesterday. It's great. It's my favorite non-rock record Elvis has ever done. The Cuban rhythms on Clubland are great, and I really love what he did with the Mingus tune. Can someone answer an ignorant question, though? Is the "Il Sogno Suite" CD just a short version of the...

Well, not really. Stranded at Birmingham Uni, I managed to see them play away at Walsall. IT was pretty crap to be honest. Too many long balls (got to the point where the goalkeepers were hoofing it down the pitch to each other!) but Latics still won 2-0. I don't really have a "team" in th...

Bought quite a few new CDs recently. Bought Ian Dury yesterday at Tesco's for a fiver. Squeeze Greatest hits and My Flame Burns Blue arrived today.

Other buys recently include the classics - London Calling, Sgt Peppers, Pet Sounds, What's Going On, THe Kick Inside, Parallel Lines...all very good.

In one of the songs from Painted from Memory (is it the Long Division?) where he sings "I'm not saying that there will be violins, but don't be surprised if they appear", and lo and behold, violins!

It's brilliant! Got my copy from amazon today. I particularly liked "Favourite Hour"; the arrangement showed just how good a song it is. Amazing how fresh the new arrangement of WTD seemed, despite it being one of EC's most played songs. Episode of Blonde also good, and Upon A Veil Of Midn...

Indeed, the Wikipedia Costello entry sez 'Three of his songs also appeared on the soundtrack to Simon Schama's A History of Britain', though I can't find any info on which ones. The BBC site sez 'Internationally-renowned composer and saxophonist John Harle was commissioned to compose an original mu...

I swear in Simon Schama's "A History of Britain" TV series there's a bit from Elvis. It was with strings, and I assume it's something from the Juliet Letters. I didn't have the album at the time though, so couldn't say which song it is. I have the series on DVD now, I'll have to watch them...
