Re: 2014 Favourite Albums

Verbal, I like James a lot and though their last is by no means the best album they've ever released, there are a couple of great songs on it. On top of it, my wife is a huge James' fan and she plays La Petite Mort at least a few times a week, so I've grown to love it. :-) Jack, eagerly looking forw...

2014 Favourite Albums

Hi there, I would love to hear what fellow EC fans regard as the best music of 2014. I am looking at my list and I have to say I might be slowly turning into an old prick. :) With one exception, all of the artists have been around for more than 10 years (one, sadly, not with us any more). Many of th...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Enjoying the new album from Ben Watt (probably better known as being one half of the duo Everything but the Girl). The album's called Hendra, and it's an excellent collection of quiet (mostly), intimate, contemplative songs. Give it a try. And here is the live version of the title track. Ben Watt wi...

Re: WHAT?! No WC thread?

So far could be the best World Cup tournament ever.
Some brilliant games like Germany-Ghana or yesterday's USA vs Portugal (have no idea why the ref added 5 minutes).

Re: New Gig Thread

The National must surely be one of the best live acts in the world. The show they put on last Monday in Warsaw was nothing short of breathtaking. Intense, powerful and intimate at the same time. The whole set was masterfully paced and played, but if I had to choose highlights, I'd go for Bloodbuzz O...

Not sure if there are any Eels fans on the forum, but a new album called 'The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett' is out soon and if you like their more introspective side, check out this lovely new song.

Retrospective: The Best of Suzanne Vega, which reminds what a great songwriter she is, and makes me want to check out her new album, out this month.

On EC-related note, I've forgotten Bruce Thomas and Pete Thomas played on a couple of Suzanne's albums in the 90s.

Re: New album for 2013: "Wise Up Ghost" (with The Roots!)

Yeah, the site focuses on the acts which started back in the 70's or 80s', coming from new wave, alternative, electronica or college rock, or whatever you call it, so you might always be sure that their readers will choose New Order, Wire, Johnny Marr, or even OMD over any new bands. Sad that Lloyd ...

Finally found some time to look back at the year in music. Lots of excellent albums in 2013, a few potential inclusions still waiting to be listened to (Cass McCombs, Kings Of Leon). Re: ELVIS NOVEMBER 2013 SOLO TOUR TALLY

Nine new at each show and we'll end up with 199 songs :-)

I'm counting on a few real surprises like Shoes Without Heels (can't believe it was last played almost 27 years ago, at least according to Wiki) or unexpected covers such as Nick Lowe's The Ugly Things (never played before?).
