Re: New song ‘Hetty O’Hara Confidential’, July 10, 2020

Firstly I should point out I'm a huge Weller/Jam fan and think we've been lucky to have two great, consistent song writers come from that mid 70s/punk scene still producing music worth listening to. FWIW I think Weller has been on good form for a good decade and I've seen Weller/the Jam 43 times com...

Re: My Aim Is True Survivor (Round 10)

I gave up on this one a few days in. The album means so much to me. I remember buying it in the summer of 77 and taking around to a friends house desperate to hear what the fuss was about. We weren't disappointed. Obviously Watching the Detectives shouldn't be on the list bit I cannot vote a against...

Re: Steve Nieve - The Daily Improvisation

At the risk of hijacking this thread, does anyone else find Muriel’s interruptions really irritating? When Elvis is on (and they’re the only shows I’ve watched), on occasions she gives away the next song and speaks whilst Elvis is speaking, although I appreciate it’s difficult with video calls. She...

Re: EC to appear on Artists4NHS interview and live performance series, March 27, 2020

Really enjoyed it. I liked his attitude to now not being the time for politics and not to get angry with those having to make the decisions. A time will come but not now. It's also the most 'English' I've heard him for a while. It would be great if he could do a regular podcast type thing as he cle...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

For the record, I think the seemingly constant need from many quarters to politicise the current crisis is unnecessary. Agreed. When Wayne Rooney has to make an anti- government point about it, it’s clearly gone too far. I’m no Tory but I thought the response in the press conference on Thursday was...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

I wonder how much of the cancellation was driven by the need to get home before the flight restrictions from the UK to the US kicks in. No need to hang around seeing Liverpool crowned champions anymore Just time for a quick trip to see his mum then on to the airport. For the record, I think the seem...

Nothing on the theatre website as yet but if you click on the buy tickets link it says no dates found.

Very sad but not unexpected. My 50th show will have to wait. I'm glad I managed to get to Nottingham.

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play New Theatre, Oxford, March 15, 2020

I was just digging out some stuff for Elvis to hopefully sign tomorrow in Oxford and I've come across my copy of Less Than Zero/Radio Sweetheart and noticed the B side label is on both sides of the single. Now I don't know if I'm having a senior moment but I can't recall seeing this before or have I...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham, March 2, 2020

I took a last minute decision to go to Nottingham last night. Originally I had planned Hammersmith, Oxford and Birmingham this tour. I didn't buy tickets in advance as I've started a new job which involves lots of last minute travel (I've just got back from 30 days in Northern Italy ) and the...

There's a brief scene in Danny Boyle's epic movie "Yesterday" where the PR Guy is running thru his marketing strategy, in the background are large black and white images, mocked up for the campaign to launch Jack Malik's first product. Unmistakably one is JM striking the full This Year's ...

Opening line from "The Beat" (" We're all going on a Summer holiday ") leads off this newspaper article about the importance of taking vacation time off! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/comment/why-go-on-a-holiday/ Nice idea but more likely it's referring to the Cliff Richard...

Oxford because of the Inspector Morse theme or possibly Birmingham as Jaguars are built there. If it's Oxford then it'll probably be the Apollo. If it's Birmingham then it's probably the Symphony Hall. Preferably both! The morse code spells Oxford, I believe, plus 'Morse' and it's the same car Mors...

It was last minute and I still got a front circle ticket. I quite lik...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year"

Ah, it all makes sense although I can't see it being as extensive as that tour was. I saw the tour at the Wirrina in Peterborough but also saw Elvis at the Rainbow and the NEC in Brum in 1980. About time he played in Northampton. It's out the way, just down the road from usual venues and more import...
