So a right to choose is more fundamental than a right to live? I don't think so. Once conceived, the being inside of the woman is alive, that's a scientific fact, and the philosophical problem we run into at that point is that allowing abortion heavily implies that a right to live is NOT fundamental.

Interesting to note the difference between the so-called official chart and Amazon's chart. Diana Krall has been no 1 all week on Amazon but only enters at 4. Number 3 on the official chart is Usher who is currently only at 31 on Amazon's chart which they claim is updated every hour. Amazon is only...

John Cleese is Q, not R, that was just a joke, in case you weren't aware.

I wouldn't mind Farrel or Jackman possibly getting the role, though I have trouble imagining Jackman as a suave Bond, since he seems rugged and rowdy in all of his roles.

I hope it's that. When he mentioned it at the Seattle show, I thought it was a joke. Then the Seattle Times, in their review of the show, noted the new material as being from the upcoming "South". I assumed they were just stupid, but when I read about "South" being the working ti...

I'll probably wait until it leaks and people listen to it, and if everyone seems to be keen on one song, I'll download that one song to tide me over until the full album comes out.

I like the alternate take of Hoover Factory better than the 'official' one.

Also, the demo of "The Comedians".

I agree. What about Brutal Youth? I wouldn't even go with Brutal Youth. I like it, but I still think people should start out with an artist's first album, or at least an early one, even if they missed that album by what's nearing 30 years. It's a lot more fun to go album to album and travel with th...

And another complaint I have with BY is that it's best songs aren't as great as the best songs on some of his other albums, including B&C.

I don't think either BY or B&C are super phenomenal. They're great records, but B&C seems to have a little too much filler and just feels drawn out, and BY has a similar problem with filler and the production is semi-horrendous. Like I said, I still think they're great records overall, but I...

Point taken, noiseradio.

I'm not big on nu-metal or its precursors, so I won't pretend to know every last detail. For some reason I've never gotten around to hearing Helmet, so I couldn't factor them in.

I think the three bands that led to nu-metal the most were RHCP, FNM, and Nirvana. RHCP bridged the gaps between hip hop, funk, and hard rock. FNM essentially took that, made it less bouncy and bridged it with metal. Nirvana repopularizing that self-loathing, whiney angst and what not got thrown int...

You didn't "have to be there" for IB. I wasn't, and I think it's certainly better than WIWC. The reason EC is so great is that his music is timeless. No album he has put out through his entire career sounds really dated at all, namely because he didnt' let himself get attached to fads and ...

How can you FNM weren't a part of nu-metal? They may not have been a part of the fad onslaught, but they were certainly instrumental in laying down the foundation for the movement.

GCW isn't 100% horrid. It's just a painfully mediocre record from a brilliant songwriter, thus magnifying the already fairly large flaws it has. EC said himself he changed his mind numerous times as to what he wanted to do with this album as whole, and it shows, the record feels confused and unsure....
