Infernal Affairs is coming to my house tomorrow, and somehow I don't care at all about The Departed . All those actors kind of bore me. At least they've all bored me for the last ten years. Have heard a lot of good things about Infernal Affairs (not seen it myself, strangely enough). As far as Di C...

Pacific Ocean Blue actually reminds me of one of my favourite BBs albums, Surf's Up... very moody in a reflective kind of a way.

Anyone who believes they had it worse under Saddam are also kidding themselves. That seems a bit presumptuous, frankly. Did you live in Iraq? Many Iraqis might agree with you but I'd prefer to hear it from them, not from someone who's no closer to the situation than I am here. As for perspective, I...

Yes, it was a terrible tradgedy and yes, we should take time to remember all of those who died, but lets also take the time to think of the hundreds who die every month in Iraq and Afghanistan... they also have loved ones who are missing them just as much and unlike the rest of us, they have no resp...

There is a HUGE difference between living life passionately and living life on the edge of disaster, tempting the ultimate fate...death as a way to drive revenue. As a parent, I have a responsibility to NOT sit in the rocker and avoid the thrill of living. And as a parent, I have a responsibility t...

Let me recommend Neko Case - just something about the mood in the music that to my mind would perfectly suit a march down the aisle. I love Neko...what songs were you thinking of? Yep, I was thinking of Lion's Jaws off Fox Confessor or Deep Red Bells off Blacklisted (also agree with WSS on Things T...

Graveyard of the Fireflies Heartbreaking anime, telling the story of 2 Japanese children orphaned during the tale end of WWII. That is an absolutely devastating film. Not sure I could watch it again. I have to agree. I consider it to be one of the greatest anti-war films of all time. It gives a com...

I have just gone on a Haruki Murakami reading spree... Kafka on the Shore, The Wind Up Bird Chronicles, and Dance, Dance, Dance (sequel to the very surreal Wild Sheep Chase). The guy is an out and out genius and I just wish he would arrange a collaboration with David Lynch and commit some of his tal...

Thanks all!!

Being 54, I have to admit that the retrenchment from my previous employer did put a rather big dent in my confidence. However, finding a new (and hopefully better) job with relative ease in a fairly narrow and specialised area, has more than compensated.

Back in the Ranks of the Employed...

I will be writing the documentation for a small but reasonably successful Australian software engineering company and best of all, I will be on a higher base salary than at my previous job as well as receiving ...

Just took my 7 year old along to the Toho cinema here in downtown Kawasaki to see the new Gamera movie that opened just this Saturday... not a bad little film with reasonable cgi and man-in-suit effects as well as a good storyline.
