My first Costello show. Overall I was so chuffed to be there that he could have flipped us all of and did armpit-farts for an hour and I would have still been saying "Oh my god that was Elvis Costello." However, all I really wanted to hear was Couldn't Call It Unexpected, and so I was qui...

Thanks, Stewy. Wonderful. shame about the edits - would have liked to see more. Crap interviewer. Elvis's accent is interesting, I was awaiting the very London sounds of his onstage pronouncements (e.g. thinking of the Hope and Anchor '79 BBC broadcast show), but actually his voice here sounds clos...

What I love about Elvis is that it's as if his songs were written for me. (Same with Pete Townshend.) Jack Of All Parades hit particularly close, especially the verse: Now the way that I feel is no longer news You know my love and how to refuse it Cause you know where the door is and how to use it O...

There's a space in the market for a Costello companion with an A to Z of all songs played ever (I have the awesome Bowie equivalent in mind as role model). I have the book that you mention, The Complete David Bowie by Nicholas Pegg. In fact, I modeled my own book, Queen: Complete Works , after that...

Wow. Great show, great set. For the most part, the same as the other sets throughout the tour, except no 'Riot Act' to close out the first set, instead a SCORCHING rendition of 'I Want You'. I can't remember the exact set list, but the biggest surprise of the night was when Allen Toussaint came on ...

I saw it during Boston Legal last night, and cracked up laughing. Him conducting along to Mozart (or was it Beethoven? can't remember) was hilarious. The way I perceived it, it's like he's playing a private joke on Lexus: he takes it seriously for the first twenty-five seconds, and then at the end h...

Tour names?

Apologies if this has been covered before, but I searched and couldn't find anything. What are the names of all of Elvis's tour? For instance, the 1979 Armed Funk tour, the 1981 English Mugs tour, the 1983 Clocking Across America tour... is there a comprehensive list? Thanks!

Although I would never say that Faragher is "better" than Thomas -- Davey's vocal capabilities makes his presence invaluable... But while with The Attractions, Elvis's music rarely focused on vocal harmonies... it was mostly just the performance aspect. Nowadays, sure, there might be more...

Thanks everyone, great information. I really dig the album, it's got some good tracks on it, certainly not as good as what Elvis normally writes (and I was amused that he wasn't amused by the presence of the album, even going as far to redub it Too Clever By Two Thirds), but still pretty decent.

Mad About The Wrong Boy

Hi everyone, This is my first post on the site -- I've mostly lurked for the past few months, but I've been a huge fan of Elvis's for about five years now. Anyway, with the formalities out of the way, I've been listening to The Attractions' Mad About The Wrong Boy , and I'm disappointed with how spa...
