Re: Hardly Strictly 2012

Curious that the LoWinchester show is not billed as the Richard Delone Special Housing benefit, leaving open the possibility that the benefit will occur Thursday night.

In the Rchard DeLone Foundation speculaton derby, Nick Lowe is playing Sacramento Thursday night October 4, taking him out of the running if the gig is that night. A Coward Brothers gig instead?

Absent Elvis having a duet with Charlie Watts (married to Shirley for 47 years now), is it possible to appear on stage with someone from the industry who won't eventually be de-partnered?

Re: I'm 12 years old and OBSESSED with Elvis Costello.

Oh, dear. You're in trouble now. First off, there's the recordings. There are a lot of them (and hopefully more to come.) You're not going to just want sporadic albums, you're going to want them all. Among Elvis fans there are varying opinions as to what's good and what's not quite as good, but as a...

Re: Elvis/Imposters, San Francisco, April 15 '12

Pass. Maybe it's just me, but I find the wheel too confining despite the discretion to stray from any particular selection. Plus, it spoils the joyous tension of how far into the number it takes me to figure out which song it is. Instead, given a new album to study in advance, I'd have been all over...

The youtube clip of the 1964 NME Patsy Girl performance disproves the the singer-doesn't-dance theory from the "I Cant Stand Up For Falling Down" video.

Credit to the interviewer for being honest. It's not the purchaser or the seller that deserves his scorn, it's the trusted individual within the organization who leaked it.

Josephine/Jimmie were played solo without reliance on the wheel when Elvis came out for the encore. The Napoleon Solo set was the result of a wheel selection (with a bit of divine intervention to reach that spot)

What's the challenge of doing a set list when the songs are written on a wheel in front of you? As Bill Murray said of Marsha Mason playing herself in "The Goodbye Girl," "That's not acting, that's behaving." Sans Wheel 1. I Hope that You're Happy Now 2. Mystery Dance 3. Radio Ra...

Elvis Oakland-Another Planet email listing incorrect dates.

Another Planet/Fox Theeater circulated an email announcing Elvis for Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8. The Fox Theater website confirms the dates as Sunday May 8 and Monday May 9. The start date for Monday's show is to be determined.

Dear Mr. DeLone:

For what it's worth, please assure whoever makes these decisions that the existence of a poor bootleg in cyberspace will not deter me from purchasing three copies of the commercially released version, or more if they're available in time for Christmas.

Re: A Holiday Album? It seems like an inevitability...

Grinch here. Can we not go there? We don't need an album of Christmas tunes any more than we need an album of standards or "the hits live backed by a symphony orchestra." These trends seem to be the artist-of-a-certain-vintage potholes that all careers seem to hit. Put a Christmas tune on ...

I did not make it to the other side of the park for Elvis, having been mesmerized by Exene Cervenka leading Phil Alvin to the stage to join Dave Alvin on a rollicking version of Marie Marie. Roseanne Cash was up next, and she thanked the crowd twice for not all going to see Elvis, because she's wasn...

Before Nick Lowe's set at HSB (with an entirely different band than Friday) I spied Derek Huston who played sax for Friday night's shows. He could not have been nicer. I complimented him on the lounge version of Accidents Will Happen they performed before the second part of Friday's show. He said he...

In response to blureu, in addition to this year and the MAIT show, Elvis appeared for the encore in T-Bone's 2006 show. Elvis came on for the encore. 3 collective songs, though no duets. 1. Don't Lie to Me (Elvis vocal) 2. Flag Song? (Elvis vocal: T-Bone said it was the first time he'd heard it; &qu...

Can anyone chime in as to whether the late set was the same as the photographed (of what I presume was the) early show set? Any guest stars? I hope not, given the prospect that someone else would contaminate the chemistry of the moment. I was at the early show in the dining section. We each got a la...
