Re: Jimmie Standing In The Rain's chords (HELP!!!!)

last one. sorry. tried moving the chords over the right words and then ended up sliding to the left all over again. so the chords above the line are the right oversimplified ones, but where they are placed is screwed up... d You need to put dots or dashes between the chords - multiple spaces betwee...

Re: So who's won a pair of 78s?

Incidentally, the maximum playing time of a 12" 78 is about 4 and a half minutes per side (although most were well under 4 minutes).

78s were the way pop music was sold prior to the introduction of LPs and 7" singles, so they had to be able to hold an entire pop song.

Re: National Ransom - New Album Due Nov. 2

There's another update on Elvis' site: http://www.elviscostello.com/#/news/LUPE-O-TONE/68 This suggests an extremely limited run of autographed 78s - covering four of the songs from "National Ransom". There's also a lot of references to wolves. Knowing Elvis this all may be fictional, but ...

Re: National Ransom - New Album Due Nov. 2

Saw this blurb online somewhere: The album was recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles. It will be in stores on October 1 in Australia, October 25 in Europe and November 2 in North America. Does that sound accurate? October 1st in Austrailia?? It seems strange. Albums are usually released on Mondays ...

Re: Clown Strike *Guitar players*

Thank once again Neil, unfortunately there aren't any Black Sails In The Sunset chords to be found, I am especially keen on learning that one because I think the version on Costello & Nieve back in 98 was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for that also, unfortunately again and not to be the bearer o...

Re: Mighty Like A Rose song book ? *Happy Birthday Elvis* :)

There is no "Mighty Like a Rose" songbook. The only nineties Elvis albums that had songbooks were "Brutal Youth" and "Painted From Memory". Also, there was a score of "The Juliet Letters" published. The other Elvis album with its own songbook is "Spike&qu...

I'll have a look at this soon, but to get you started the first two chords are G and Am ... repeated a few times, like this: ....... G ............... Am She'll fix you with an iron cross ...... G. .................. Am And cover you up with petals ...... G .......................... Am And hang you...

The Del indentified is, presumably, Del Palmer , long time bassist , one time partner of Ms Bush. Yes, very definitely that is Del Palmer. Still Ms Bush's bass player - although the progress on her new album is proceeding at her now renowned glacial pace. I'm fairly sure that he "skipped ahead...

The Pope of Pop, Elvis has played Istanbul. Have you read of the religious persecution Christians are currently experiencing in Turkey under the current administration's push toward and Islamic theocracy? I see he has played there once ... in 2005. I've just read some articles about Christians bein...

Re: Elvis to Perform at McCartney White House Tribute

You're exactly right that Costello singing Penny Lane should be right there on the front page of elviscostello.com, This is impossible - excerpts from this broadcast cannot be used for commercial purposes - that's why it can only be shown on PBS. There is no way an artist will get to use clips from...

Re: Bret Easton Ellis' new book "Imperial Bedrooms", June 15

BBC 4 ran a 5 minute feature on Bret Easton Ellis on their World News program last night.

It was mentioned that Ellis' idol is Elvis Costello - and following this "Beyond Belief" was played while Ellis' new novel was discussed.

Re: Elvis cancels shows in Israel , June/July '10

To keep this in perspective, I don't think Elvis has been playing any Muslim countries either... So to suggest that Elvis is pro-Muslim or pro-Palestinian by boycotting Israel would not seem to be borne out by logic. He doesn't play Muslim countries either, so by the same logic he must also be anti-...

Got to stand right at the front for this one! The set was similar to last night in Bruges, but slightly shorter. He finished with "I Want You" this time, right after doing "Sulfur to Sugarcane". I'll see if my camera recorded any kind of usable image.
