Re: books, books, books

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I liked the first half with the childhood stuff. Rather streetwise I guess. But from the ring on reality gets too blurred in a very annoying manner.

I've good things about Motherless Brooklyn but for now I'll give Lethem a break :)

Re: books, books, books

Jonathan Lethem - The Fortress of Solitude I find it rather overrated with too much of the authors thoughts about everything spoken through the characters. Elvis Costello is mentioned (so is about 200 other musicians) when a kid buys himself "some Elvis Costello kind of glasses". I much pr...

Re: Elvis in movie' Delirious'

I just saw Delirious with 6 other moviegoers in a small art-house cinema tonight. It's rather fun. Buscemi is great and so is of course Michael Pitt (he's doing a good job in Hanekes Funny Games US as well). Elvis had more lines than I hoped for to begin with. Talladega Nights this ain't. An the fac...

Re: Recently viewed films

Cloverfield.

It's actually pretty good and very intense. Like a post-9/11 nightmare vision. People who are interested in the project won't get dissapointed. Or at least I didn't.

Mostly bad acoustics i think but it was not the best place for that kind of concert (small sportsarena). But still - they seem to play all the instruments at once all the time and nobody gets any soloes which is a shame. Still a good show though.

Saw Muse a few weeks ago and Arcade Fire last night. Muse was ok but too mechanic while Arcade Fire delivered a dynamic performance all though there was no need for half the band cause the horns and strings drowned in a wall of sound. Didn't hear those horns once... Still Wake Up and Tunnels were fa...

Apparently Gone, Baby Gone won't be released here. Too close to the Madeleine McCann case, and the girl bears a resemblance. Do the parents end up being proven guilty in the film, someone else, or do we never find out? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6992601.stm Nope - its not like the mis...

Ive seen too good films recently. The interesting and entertaining Eastern Promises and Ben Afflecks Gone, Baby, Gone. The latter is almost perfect - like a taut more down to earth and less hysterical version of Mystic River. Who would have thought that - to me it seems like Ben Affleck is the brain...

General misconception of Alison?

Rolling Stone made a list of the top 25 misconceptions rock songs ever. And EC is there. (Though I've never thought or heard about that conception of the song.)

I gotta agree with John. It was just Elvis songs performed by a singer who was not up to the task. And having just watched The Juliet Letters video/program they didnt even come close last monday in Copenhagen. Their choice of songs was meaningless as well. Why choose 'Taking my lives in your hands' ...

I finally got to watch the show last night. It's formidable and the sound is great (what is it with the production on River in Reverse anyway - its very muddled). Greatest wish for the summer now is that EC and AT comes to Copenhagen.

And Davey Faragher seems to have lost a lot of weight :)

Is it me or is 'Lover's walk' based on 'Lover's Rock' from London Calling?

(just like the intro to 'Rudie can't fail', sound just like the intro to another EC song that I can't remember right now)

I've seen three reviews now. One 5-star and two 2-stars reviews. The latter pretty much agree that EC should have sung the songs and that the two singers arent up to the task. http://www.jp.dk/kultur/artikel:aid=4276544/ http://www.berlingske.dk/dine-ord/artikel:aid=869672 Starts with "Once upo...
