A Public Service Announcement from Dr. Luther -- If you have downloaded this show (and I highly recommend that you do -- outstanding sound and performance), a couple of quirks to look out for: Firstly, the source apparently starts mid-song, "For Other Eyes" -- a real shame, as there is no...

Yeah, Geraldo comes off as the phoney that he is -- if you listen closely to his conversation with EC on the bus, it just rings hollow. I love the Rockpalast show, but it has an uncomfortableness about it because of the broadcast component. What I like about the 20/20 concert footage is it's more in...

In all fairness, if you don't know the lyric, it really does sound like "one-eyed Jew".

I've just gotten my Japanese copy and a few of the errors in the printed lyrics are pretty laughable. Sorry for the lack of timeliness in this context, but I had to relate this. Back in the day, I used to send away, at great expense, for Japanese vinyl pressings of Costello's new releases, as the q...

Why does it seem that some element of this is officially released somewhere? I know I've read of the 20/20 footage, Geraldo, etc at some point. Nah -- no segments officially released of which I'm aware. This is culled (apparently not in entirety) from much raw footage taken for a prospective piece ...

Grammys -- a request

Hey there - If someone on the East Coast (of the U.S.) could give me an indication as to exactly when EC makes his appearance on the Grammys telecast (and under what circumstances), it would be greatly appreciated, so I don't have to record the entire obnoxious affair. (Also, the apparent CBS News a...

Thanks, MichaelM. Very helpful. Yeah, my main concern is the longevity issue, and I knew that the Japanese manufactured products were the only ones that seemed to be holding up -- thus far, anyway. I have been screwing around on my computer while burning -- haven't noticed anything specific, problem...

Blank Media question

I just received an order of blank CD-r's manufactured by Taiyo Yuden of Japan, as I was told by someone that I trust, that this was the way to go -- that they are probably the most reliable (performance and preservation wise...). 1st, any thoughts / opinions on this brand? 2nd, they look totally gen...

But I remember waiting for the rumored "mopping up" collection in the Ryko era, and it would be a nice way for Rhino to seal up the program if they put something out that would both collect any strays and include things like the "Unloved Songs" material. If indeed there is still...

I don't know.
A "Taking Liberties" release would make NO sense, in the context of the originally released format.

If indeed this project truly exists, I would suspect that they a merely borrowing the title...

I'm assuming it's the EC show from Sydney you're listening to? Actually, it was Berkeley 2/7/78, as I haven't heard it on my stereo yet, only on my computer. That was my 1st Costello show attended, so it is dear to my heart. Have always had my original cassette that I taped off of FM, but this torr...

Sorry, should have been clearer.

This very moment I'm listening, on a stand-alone 15 year old Sony CD player, to a CD burned directly from FLAC just minutes ago.

Plays fine, reads out all info, etc.

I don't understand, but it sure is nice...

Burning FLAC files with ease...

I just installed a new Sony burner in my computer.
It came with NERO software.

What gives? I thought that FLACS had to be converted to WAVs to be burned.

This NERO thing is playing and burning FLACS as is. No problems that I've seen.
Is this a new phenomenon, or was I misinformed?

I know how it is. I just got the Dylan live '66 extravaganza (8 CDs worth...) I was unaware that the "Unloved" stuff had been circulating that long -- however, I'm sticking to my prediction for 2 reasons. "Leaked" material of that quality HAS to come from an "official" ...
