Loud or quiet I love listening to Elvis' lyrics.

What a dreadful program. Three unfunny comedians (if you include the presenter) and a basketball player. Had to endure 45 minutes of torture and adverts before Elvis came on. Wasn't he just too good for this program? Touring America from mid-February. Getting married in England between now and then ...

Any Elvis songs you don't like?

I'll begin with Luxembourg. :( For 22 years I could hardly make out any of it. Only recently printed the Trust lyrics off the internet. Could add Sour Milk-Cow Blues/The Great Unknown/The Deportees Club, consecutive tracks from side two of Goodbye Cruel World - not my favourite section of an Elvis LP.

Have to go and have a look.

Sulky boy

Good to see that Birmingham seems to have pulled Elvis out his sulk on us Brits. :)
I don't know the following songs. What can anyone tell me?
No Wonder
Dirty Rotten Shame

Either Side Of The Same Town sounds really good in concert and he seems to do it a lot. Elvis hasn't recorded it, has he?

Hoover Factory

Does my memory fail me or can anyone else remember Elvis singing (or miming) this song on BBC Saturday morning children's program Swap Shop - I think when Clubland was being promoted.

Elvis' next album

Sour Milk Cow wrote:- an album where the band plays the songs, EC multi-tracks his vocal harmonies, and they sing 10 or 15 new songs. Pop songs, folk songs, country songs, blues songs, soul songs, whatever. This sounds perfect. Something poppy and immediate. An album you love on first play and not t...

I feel very sad after listening to that interview. At the end of the Manchester concert he said something like "hope to see you all again soon". Looks like he's changed his mind. Like some of the previous comments, how can he mix up the British press with his British fans? There were lots ...

I hope he "rakes it in" whatever way he can.
Sales from his latest long player are not going to make him a rich man.
I wonder if he makes much from concerts as he probably does more of these than most?

Significance of Brutal Youth cover

Maybe KoS.
Though I am sure Elvis has never been racist and one drunken incident seems to be referred back to an awful lot (it was recalled in several of the North reviews). It all happened just before I got into Elvis so I don't remember the coverage at the time.

Post 89 Albums

Elvis' post '89 albums are overall not as good as Spike and prior, I feel.
My order would be:-
1. Brutal Youth
2. When I Was Cruel
3. All This Useless Beauty
4. North
5. Mighty Like A Rose
6. The Juliet Letters
7. Painted From Memory
(then a gap to)

8. Kojak Variety
9. Cruel Smile

No. It is certainly a masterpiece. I remember being disappointed when I bought it on initial release but it grows and grows on you over time. I love it now and never skip a track, my favourite tracks being the last two, You Little Fool and Town Cryer. Personally I prefer Punch The Clock, King Of Ame...

Was a 15 year old with a £5 record voucher from Christmas 1979 burning a whole in my pocket. Knew Oliver's Army and catchy new single out (I Can't Stand Up). Took a chance and invested in Get Happy. I didn't think that 23 years later I would still be buying his records. ps Get Happy will always star...

Don't know what type of chart that is. In the Holland "pop" charts North is at no 57 (see http://www.planet.nl/planet/show/id=82349/sc=d09793). Has been on the Dutch chart for 3 weeks. Holland and Belgium seem to have the highest chart position for North at the moment. That will all change...

Thanks Emotional and Plaything for correcting me on Indoor Fireworks. He definitely didn't do it. I had put a cd together of all non-North tracks he has been doing in concert recently and must have brainwashed myself with it. The highlight of the concert for me was Sleep Of The Just. Favourite North...

Must have been on earlier in Scotland. Elvis claimed to have 5 albums in mind when asked what he may do next. They showed some amusing clips:- 1. singing Peace In Our Time on breakfast television. 2. singing PL&U (I think) on TFI Friday. 3. very strange looking Elvis with horrendous beard, don't...

The show was about 2hrs 15mins Elvis invited different sections of the audience to join in during the last song CCIUN4. After one particularly weak response he commented "must be City fans!" Also join in bits during God's Comic and the Beatle's song. Not sure he has to bother with so many ...
