Re: Massive sound upgrade for iPod for £50

I find the in-ear headphones a bit uncomfortable if I listen to them for a long time.
Anyone got any recommendations for the bigger headphones, something around the £50 price bracket??

my Elvis gig memories

Hello. I've been blogging about my memories from 24 years of Elvis Costello gigs. So far I'm up to 2001, have a read here. http://trustthewizards.com/category/blog-posts/elvis-costello-gig-memories/ There's a "comments" box at the bottom of each blog post if you have anything to add. And i...

I went to that venue on the When I Was Cruel tour on Elvis' birthday.
Definitely the weirdest EC gig venue I've been to!

Not as great as Liverpool last week but still a brilliant gig though.

Here it is anyway....

Just to let you know that we've added an extra bit to our review of Monday's gig. The kid of one of my fellow Wizards has done her own review of the gig. I hope this makes you laugh, rather than make you angry, she is only 13. http://trustthewizards.com/2013/06/10/live-review-elvis-costello-liverpoo...

Big gig regrets

Hello. I run a music podcast / blog with a couple of friends. It is called Trust the Wizards and recently on there we have been discussing The One That Got Away / The One That Keeps You Awake At Night. We mean the gig that you could / should have gone to but didn't. See this article for more. So wha...

Re: top 50 albums

Tindersticks are just brilliant. I could've picked pretty much any of their albums to go on that list. I also love Lambchop and the 2 bands have a few similarities. Both bands have vocalists with very low voices that most people either love or hate on the 1st listen. Also both bands are not afraid t...

top 50 albums

Make your top 50 album list here.
Here's mine, the hardest part was deciding which EC album to include.
Please don't slag off my choices too much folks!

Re: Liverpool Meet up?

I'm at Man City in the afternoon supporting my team QPR. We are going to lose so I'm hoping desperately that Bolton don't win. I'm going to the EC gig with my mate who's a Bolton fan and we've already agreed that whoever stays up buys the 1st round. I know the Doctor Duncan's well, a great pub so we...

Re: Other artists' songs that remind you of EC

A Camp (side project of Cardigans singer Nina Persson) did a great album a couple of years ago. The opening track is called The Crowning and it's wonderful. To me, the chord progressions, the lyrics and the way the melody develops sound so much like a Costello song (All This Useless Beauty era maybe...

Re: songs Elvis should retire (if he hasn't already)

I actually count four different, recent versions of "Every Day I Write the Book". - The original "rock-lite" arrangement played by The Imposters recently. - The punky version posted by Natasha. - The Sugarcanes arrangement, with the modified chorus. - The solo acoustic version, ...

Re: Spectacle Season 2 Release Date - 7 December 2010

I recorded all of Series 2 on Sky Arts and have slowly been working my way through them. Haven't watched the 2 Bruce ones yet, saving them for last. Loved the episode with Jesse Winchester, Ron Sexsmith etc and also loved the one with Nick Lowe, Allen Toussaint etc. I liked John Prine but never been...

Re: Elvis sang LAST song i'll ever see E STREET BAND play!

Very sad to hear that. Bruce's music and Elvis's music can hit me in the gut like few other artists can and just like Elvis is (IMHO) at his best with the Attractions/ Imposters, Bruce is at his best with E Street Band. I really hope that Bruce carries on with the E Street Band but the big man have ...

Went along last night not really knowing what to expect. I really enjoyed it. Lou Dalgleish is an excellent singer and the guy on piano was also really good. It's clear that the play has been put together with a great deal of care and affection for EC's music. Loads of well-performed EC songs and it...

Re: Lyrics open to interpretation...

I've always thought that the line "no matter how many foreign bodies you can take" was more literal and the song was about a soldier. I have no evidence from elsewhere in the song to back this up, other than the songs sounds like it belongs on Armed Forces. I guess that what's so great (or...
