Elvis Costello Sings The Rainbow

Inspired by Elvis & Steve's "Colours" themed video, I wrote this blog post about my favourite E.C. colour songs.

Re: Steve Nieve - The Daily Improvisation

Steve's broadcasts are the highlight of my day. But I missed the Towns and Cities special so I only caught up with that one today. What a treat! The performance of "London's Brilliant Parade" was a particular highlight and the lyrics of that "Town Called Riddle" song were great t...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Eventim Olympia, Liverpool, February 28, 2020

I'm going to this one. Very excited already.
I think this will be something like my 26th Elvis gig? A new Liverpool venue too having previously seen him at Empire, Picket and the twice at the Philharmonic.

Re: Elvis's most 'Marmite' project

Lots of stuff I love being mentioned above, e.g. North, Momofuku, River in Reverse. My vote would go to My Flame Burns Blue. Probably a decent gig if you were actually there but a pretty poor live album. By the time My Flame Burns Blue came out we'd already had vastly superior live versions of many ...

Re: Elvis plays Manchester Castlefields 2018

Anyone ever been to a gig there?
I usually go whenever Elvis plays Manchester or Liverpool. But not sure about this one because that venue looks as if it has the potential to be really shit.

Brilliant.
Weller's solo stuff doesn't do much for me but I was a huge Style Council fan.

Re: Paul McCartney: Flowers In The Dirt Archive Collection

So there's the 9 tracks that are on Disc 2 of the Flowers in the Dirt re-issue + the 3 tracks that are only in the mega-pricy deluxe edition (and the RSD cassette).
Does anyone know if there are any other Costello / McCartney demo recordings that have ever surfaced?

Re: Elvis's Worst Song And Why

"Why Can't A Man Stand Alone?" leaves me cold. It's the only song I can think of on any EC album that I regularly skip. Funny innit. That'd be in my all time top 20 of EC songs!! Least favourite: never been keen on 20% Amnesia, The Delivery Man, Georgie & Her Rival and I echo others' ...

The Thyme Machine live in Liverpool this Thursday

anyone in the Liverpool area? The Thyme Machine led by Lancaster's lyrical genius Kriss Foster, are playing at Maguires Pizza Bar this Thursday, they're brilliant. It's only a fiver and Ballard (the bard of Bolton) is supporting. http://www.getintothis.co.uk/2015/07/trust-the-wizards-the-thyme-machi...

A similar question, I was at this Leeds gig in 2005 and I'm sure they played Welcome to the Working Week but it's not listed here. Anyone have a recording who could check?

Whose "I Want You" song is best?

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about songs with shared song titles. I came to the conclusion that the title which makes the best songs is "I Want You". At the bottom of the article, there's a poll where you can vote for which "I Want You" song is your favourite. http://trus...

Out on a limb here: Live to Tell- Madonna Snow Angel - Ron Sexsmith I'm Not Like Everybody Else - Kinks Dance Me to the End of Love - L. Cohen If he was going to do a Madonna song, then a cover of "You'll See" would be great. That song is just crying out for a version with EC giving it th...
