Re: Elvis/The Imposters, London, May 23 2012

My lot are meeting at Liverpool St for 6. I am trying to get them to head for the Goat. We normally go the other tube station though. It looks walkable from Gloucester Road, which is easier to get to than High St Ken. Cant remember If it is Gloucester Rd or South Ken It is just a walk up the road. ...

RIP Robin Gibb

As a young child the first music I remember is the early Bee Gees and the Monkees. Very sad to hear of Robin's passing. So soon after Davy Jones.

RIP Robin

Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.

Part of me wishes this was only coming out to coincide with the UK tour. I am tempted to leave watching the dvd until after the RAH show, I know I wont though. Not to spoil how the show runs even though I have a good idea. I missed it in 86. I got the solo night at the Royalty go and watch with no ...

Re: Elvis/'Spinning - Dublin, May 9 '12 - its on!

When Elvis added the second date at the RAH there must have been a knowledge of how many people had applied for tickets. Perhaps the demand in Dublin was such that the previous hall wasn't big enough, I can't see why you would upgrade or add an extra date if there was little interest. I do think thi...

Re: Your LEAST favorite Elvis song and why

I know they are cover versions but I dislike 'Bama lama bama loo' and it's ilk. Never been a lover of Luxembourg And there are bits of the Delivery Man and SP&S that I wouldn't miss if I never heard them again. The tuneless noise songs as someone else said. And I cant be bothered to look up the ...

I see from facebook that Ross's wife has just died.(if he is still with Ronan's mum) I am 'friends' with Ronan and there are messages of sympathy for him regarding his mum.

What an awful time they must be going through. Prayers are with them all.

Re: Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

As someone else said, the only London gig I've seen looking empty was the Tower of London - such a shame - but I seem to remember the tickets were astronomically expensive - 60 quid, I seem to recall! And I seem to recall you paid far far far less than that Neil. It was an exorbitantly expens...

Re: Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

I think the solo shows do not sell as well as the Imposters shows. Elvis to be is an aquired taste, 30 odd years into his career he is doing well to still be playing to as many people as he is. The only show I have been to that was half empty was the Tower Of London show. But I believe all the shows...

Depends on your budget, but expensive end of the spectrum near there are Crowne Plaza and, nicest, Doubletree Hilton. bit cheaper would be Royal Cambridge. Slightly further but easily walkable and pretty decent is the Regent. Or the huge University Arms. Can't think of any smaller B & B options...

Oboy oboy oboy oboy oboy oboy. Erstwhile board frequenter Jackson Doofster Monk texts me at work to ask which show I'm going to and sends me a link with some of the dates on, so I'm thinking 'nice, will get my ass down to the RAH', but now after midnight and finally able to look at the internet for...
