Re: Your LEAST favorite Elvis song and why

Kind of tough to read these, especially "You'll Never Be a Man" and "Black Sails in the Sunset". Such lovely songs.

Three EC songs that I find a little annoying are "The Stamping Ground", "Turning the Town Red" and "Goody Two Shoes".

Wow. That is stunning. His quiet, minimal playing here makes the song so much sadder.

Haha, I love the little theremin flourish Steve throws in when EC calls his name at the end. Steve is the best.

Re: Track listing for live dvd/cd/lp

Amazon has it at $251 and says only 1500 are made. They also note that standard editions of the CD and DVD will be out next year. It looks cool and I'm tempted but it's about $100 more than I would consider paying for this. I'll wait for the standard editions. Gotta be on Blu-ray, right? This is El...

Re: Help me find the really good songs!?? (Top 25 all time?

Hey dude. I put together my own little list-- granted, mine wasn't so much a "best of", as it was a "Starter Kit" for several of my friends who were completely unfamiliar with EC's work. It's 22 songs (19 tracks that flow together pretty well, and an additional three tacked-on &q...

Re: songs Elvis should retire (if he hasn't already)

I actually count four different, recent versions of "Every Day I Write the Book". - The original "rock-lite" arrangement played by The Imposters recently. - The punky version posted by Natasha. - The Sugarcanes arrangement, with the modified chorus. - The solo acoustic version, m...

Re: Is it passé to list your real location?

Incidentally, I just hit my iPod's shuffle, and out of the 8000+ songs in it, the first one to come up was EC's "The Town Where Time Stood Still". Is this a sign?

Is it passé to list your real location?

Looking at a lot of posters, it seems the majority prefer to add a snappy one-liner, usually from an Elvis Costello song, as their "Location". Am I being gauche by listing my real city and country of residence? :|

I much prefer the final This Year's Model version to the My Aim is True cut, mostly because the latter suffers from a lack of Attractions

I should clarify that, humorous as they are, all of these packages are 100% real and in fact the $10,000 set and one of the $7500 sets have already been sold.

EC should try this release model

For all the recent talk of "Super Mega Deluxe Editions" of varying prices, I think this is actually a pretty good idea... Legendary punk drummer Josh Freese is offering his new EP "My New Friends" in a whopping 11 different formats, ranging in price from 5 to 75000 dollars. $5 - ...

surely you jest, with your "NOT EVEN CLOSE" account. it is as true to the original as you would expect 35 years later if it is indeed a re-record...which it is not. they did something "new" to the old track. yeah i hear an additional little guitar fill (played by Elmo, naturally...

Re: Elvis to guest star on Sesame Street

Nope, not even close. The drum sound is completely different (this was obviously recorded digitally on modern gear), there's an additional acoustic guitar track on the left channel and the guitar arpeggios are completely different, as well as a few of the drum fills. It's also at a slightly faster t...

That is not the original backing track.
