Wow, Pete is really laying it down at the end of that video. Enjoyed watching that. Thanks!

Re: SP&S Vs. NR: Which Do You Prefer ?

I prefer SP&S by some distance.

National Ransom has a couple decent tracks, and I have really tried to let it grow on me, but it just won't. It has a nice buried spot on my CD rack next to il Songno.

Re: Nick Lowe covers "Poisoned Rose" on upcoming album

What a sublime performance of Stoplight Roses at 5:04 into the interview.

But the Leonard Lopate guy doing the interview was mostly clueless and borderline annoying. And the faux pas at the end of the interview . . . Nick Lowe's new album, "The Old Man".

Completely forgot that he was in that, Otis. Not sure why he annoys me so much. Maybe it was Lonesome Dove or the Fugitive. Just not a TLJ fan.

Re: Recently viewed films

Captain America - formulaic, boring, slow to develop, poorly acted, and Tommy Lee Jones in one of his typical roles . . . . need I say more? Yes, I do. It sucked. However, my kids seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

The dancing girls are a little too hot and slightly distracting. Only complaint.

Re: Elvis/Imposters, 'Vibes', Bridgeport Ct, 23 July '11

It is hard to watch multiple youtube clips from the Spinning Songbook tour and not be slightly bothered by the start-stop nature of it. And to see the same jokes used show after show. And I will admit that I was worried that I had watched too many clips prior to seeing him in St. Louis. But I wasn't...

Bronx - did it say anything on your receipt that the cards were included in your purchase? Mine didn't.

Poisoned Rose would be great to hear covered by Nick.

Nick Lowe

Just pre-ordered the new Nick Lowe "The Old Magic" at the Yeproc website and got 2 free downloads ("Checkout Time" and "Somebody Cares for Me"). Grooving on it now. Hope I get the playing cards if I'm one of the first 500. They look pretty cool - Nick as the King of Hea...

Re: Elvis plays St Louis, Missouri, Fri, July 1, 2011

I was there. Best Elvis show I've been to out of 5 other times I've seen him. Just outstanding all the way around. Started off with the audience being very stiff, but when Eddie Vedder came out during the 3rd song -- I think they were 2/3rds of the way through the song before the mostly older audien...

Re: EC and the Attractions Tour-De-Force?

Get Happy is a great collection and one of my favorites, but on Trust, their playing has graduated another year, they are listening to each other better, and each member more integral, so I picked Trust. With Trust, here is a band playing as a TEAM in their prime. I was tempted to pick Blood and Cho...

I don't see any similarities in that song to any of Elvis'. None.

And what a mess of a song. Blech!

The yee-hawing gives it the "live" texture that makes it an exciting listen. Never bothered me.

Re: Straining to outlive the past re:WIWC

National Ransom is far worse than WIWC in my opinion.

Gave Secret, Profane, and Sugarcane a spin the other night and forgot how much more I like it than NR. So much more relaxed, easy to listen to, and not over-reaching.

Re: "In time we can turn these obsessions into careers"MLAR2

MLAR is probably one of my least listened to as well. Too many clunkers among the gems. Almost like National Ransom in that way, or Spike which is more of the same time period. The beard was a very strange period. Almost reminds me of Joaquin Phoenix and his fake rock star foray. So Like Candy is go...

Yup. This is Elvis doing a bad Tom Waits impersonation. Can't take it. Almost as bad as NR No.1, but not quite. Maybe by NR No. 14 it will be palatable.

Re: Wellmont: pre-sale bad? in person today: WORSE!!

Has to be a scam. I don't know how many times I've had similar experiences. The good seats just are not available to the regular public at the published prices --- only to the ticket brokers who mark them way the hell up. They don't have to stand in line or even wait on hold. They automatically buy ...
