Re: "Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance" - docu. - BBC4 Nov. 8 '1

Fine piece of work indeed. As EC sez he's had such a full life so far packed with so many different incidents it would be hard to include them all without it all becoming very unwieldy. Marks film does provide a good flavour, and would encourage newcomers to check out ECs work. And, yet again, after...

Yeah, sound was perfect, wonderful acoustics, beautiful venue. Great gig alright, and, again, great to see him so happy. Good banter as well, nice Slade mention.

Gave the album the cranking-it-out-of-the-shitty-boombox-at-work test this evening and it passed with flying colours. Great piece of work, holds up all the way through. Think only hardcore fans will really notice the references to past works, which are obvious, -lovely bit of Satellite-, they're rea...

Re: Recently viewed films

Saw 5 films over the weekend, only one, Frances Ha , worth seeing again, and that still dragged a bit towards the end. Only God Forgives looks gorgeous, some gob smackingly beautifully composed shots, and a great Cliff Martinez score, of course, but overall quite forgettable. The Heat is fine, Melis...

Re: Poble Espanyol, Barcelona (Spain), July 26, 2013

No soprano, just none of the strangulated screaming of the past. Guitar playing way better as well. My earplugs helped, trimmed off the harshness of the wall of sound. Great interplay, a nod or one word to Pete, eg. Alison, and the others followed, really tight.

Re: Poble Espanyol, Barcelona (Spain), July 26, 2013

Great to see Elvis again, transformed since I last saw him in 2005. Still supremely entertaining, no more snark. Sure I'd like to have seen more recent stuff, ie. stuff from the last 10 years, the ones done way better than the studio versions. Still it was great to hear the classics again, the Impos...

Re: Elvis on Irish radio

Elvis regularly appeared on The BP Fallon Orchestra, an Irish radio show on RTE, during the '80s. An archiver of Irish music radio, http://fanningsessions.wordpress.com/ , sent out a twitter request for any tapes, since RTE didn't keep any copies. So I put together this zip file of mp3s of all the E...
