Re: Random Thoughts
eSurance is bad, but the most hated commercials of my life are the Pennsylvania lottery ones. There's a highly annoying puppet groundhog trying to sell me scratch and wins all. the. time. Of course, I can't find a video, but anyone in PA, or maybe even the tri-state area (I sometimes get commercials...

Wasn't Oh Well on Cruel Smile? *goes to check* Yep, on my copy at least. Unless you guys have some superultradeluxe copy of WIWC that I don't. But definitely a point about Soul For Hire, although I do enjoy the song. I can't imagine anything else before 15 Petals, though, and When I Was Cruel right ...

Whoa, what happened there? And verbal/sulkylad- I'd agree with you guys. Song With Rose is growing on me, but all in all those two songs are weaker than the others. Oh, and I'm glad to see that I'm the winner, thank you, thank you. I couldn't have done it without Pretty Words and Luxembourg, my comr...

Re: books, books, books
I found the best deal at the local Barnes and Nobles on Tuesday. Sean (boyfriend) and I found the Lord of The Rings books, hardcover, illustrated, for $8 apiece. Needless to say we both nerded out and bought all three. Of course, if they had had The Hobbit as well, I might have fainted, nerd that I ...

Thanks for the good wishes you guys! Everything went off well. I even got the chance to hug a good friend up on stage! I have maybe exactly one picture, so yeah. Hopefully it's presentable at some point. I'll be away tonight through Sunday evening, so don't expect it soon soon.

Re: My daughters attack escalated to attempted murder
I hate to say there's anything good about a situation like this, but at least when they're caught they'll be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. All the best to you and your family, Gilli. No matter what happens, you have your daughter still, you know?

Graduation tonight. It'd be a lot more exciting if my school had their shit together and everyone knew exactly what was going on. And my mortarboard makes me look like a goober. I think my hat is too big. And the collar was a pain in the ass, most seriously. And they told us at the last minute that ...

Re: The enigmatic Mr Feathers
If I saw EC staring at me in any situation, I'd faint. Probably. And then walk up calmly and start a conversation. Hey, he was staring at me!
And I agree with boo, that seems the most likely. All I have to add really is that to me it sounds like the Beatles filtered through Spike.

Read God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian (Vonnegut), Slapstick (Vonnegut), The Island of Dr. Moreau (Wells), and The Time Machine (Wells) recently. I've also been reading a few essays on gender, and started on Frankenstein today.

Lloyd Cole and the Commotions Rattlesnakes. Thanks for the impetus to pick that up, Otis. It is indeed very good.

Re: 1,001 ALbums You Must Hear
Interesting list. Looking through it, I don't own a ton, but have heard probably most of the Bowie and Dead stuff on there. There were a few artists I've been meaning to check out on there: Suzanne Vega, Nick Cave, Lloyd Cole (even an album I was thinking about picking up, Rattlesnakes), John Prine,...

I believe it's because the expectant lifespan of a female is longer than that of a male, which means she'd have more years to read. :) And I think The Outsider by Camus that's on the list is The Stranger . I believe it's sometimes translated that way. If I'm wrong, knock one off my count.

29, and I own some of those and haven't gotten around to reading them. Not bad for my age.
And, through the magic of library and thrift store shopping, I got 9 books for 4 dollars yesterday. Where else can you get a hardback book for a dollar?

As per Spooky's request, prom: From left to right, it's my friend Kara, my boyfriend Sean, me, my cousin Brittany, and my friend Laura. Best picture I had, folks. And keep in mind I'm in 4 inch heels in the pic: I'm actually quite a bit shorter than that. http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/9174/prom...

Re: books, books, books
Finished Deadeye Dick yesterday, and sped through Chronicle of A Death Foretold last night through today. The Vonnegut was funny and engaging as usual, but CoaDF was horrendously boring. I really hope it's just lost in translation. On a similar note, I think I might skip the Kafka for now and get so...
