Letters to Juliet

Anybody heard of this and is there a direct relation to The Juliet Letters? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892318/ An American girl on vacation in Italy finds an unanswered "letter to Juliet" -- one of thousands of missives left at the fictional lover's Verona courtyard, which are typically ...

Re: Number 9, Number 9, Number 9...

Almost everything I listen to is inspired by The Beatles. But I am not that much a fan of the early stuff and I only know a couple of albums in full (Sgt. Pepper, White Album). To make up for this im going for the remastered box set in stereo. Is that a completely wrong thing to do and should I get ...

I wanted to see that too after reading the book. And I can only recommend Rotters Club and The Closed Circle. I agree that Findley Onyx is a good character. I also enjoyed the menacing, overdone and furious descriptions of the Winshaws.

Re: books, books, books

Cant blame you. Thats why i asked how well known Mervyn Peake and Gormenghast are in the UK. Cause I can't figure it out. He seems big but then again ive never heard off him until a year ago. I guess Jonathan Coe is kind of well-known. Maybe like a secondary Nick Hornby? Coe writes better though. An...

Re: books, books, books

'Titus Groan' by Mervyn Peake. One of the strangest books ive ever read. Quite a challenge actually but i already look forward to part 2. How well known is the Gormenghast trilogy in UK or other places? Its extremely overlooked in Denmark. 'What a Carve up!' by Jonathan Coe. Good but I expected no l...

Re: Recently viewed films

Has anybody seen 'Bronson'? To me it was a nice surprise and much less annoying than expected. Great soundtrack too - just downloaded Digital Verticolor with Glass Candy. Works brilliant in the movie and its got a kind of Clockwork Orange-vibe to it.

Re: well, what do you think of

I find it an above average album but an average EC album. Most of the songs works for me but overall the tend to the boring side. Not as in tiresome but as not very tight or something I wanna play over and over again. Hidden Shame is a waste but otherwise all songs works on some level IMO. Favorites...

Re: EC to release Secret, Profane and Sugarcane

Hello board. I have just found out that the tracklist contains some of The Secret Songs. Even great ones as She Handed Me a Mirror and Red Cotton. Still a shame that He Has Forgotten me Completely and The Famous Artificial Bird are left out. Can't wait though to hear the studio versions even if the ...

Oasis - Falconer Salen, Copenhagen.

Liam Gallagher is 80% cool and 20% twat. :)

Good concert with a good crowd at a rather small venue (3000 people). The Masterplan was a highlight. They even seemed to enjoy playing.

Re: New Gig Thread

Went to a great Jenny Lewis-concert Tuesday. It was the third time I saw her and the (almost new) band rocked much more than usual. It got raving reviews in the Danish newspapers. 'The Next Messiah' and 'Bad Man’s World' were highlights - the latter had some exceptional drumming. Tracklist: Jack Kil...

Re: New Gig Thread

Not if re: Stacks is anything to go by (thanks, WSS). Maybe he just doesn't come off well live. Or had a bad night. I do really like the album. Bon Iver did very good, actually. The crowd were way over the top. The band didn't seem to understand what was going on either. It was 45 fine minutes.

Re: Elvis On New Jenny Lewis Album

I got the album yesterday and I believe it's pretty good and it could end up being better than Rabbit Fur Coat and on par with Rilo Kileys latest. Stand-out tracks so far gotta be The Next Messiah, Acid Tongue and Jack Killed Mom (though it's better live). To me EC sounds just like Elvis Costello on...

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band last night in Copenhagen. Three great hours with perfect versions of Im on Fire, Spirit in the Night, Trapped, Badlands and Ramrod to name a few. Second time I saw him on this tour and the fourth time in total. Never seen him in a better mood than last night. :D

Re: Momofuku Poll #2 - Whaddya think?

I still havent figured out my opinion about Momofuku. Rated it "it's quite good" but I find it hard to get to know some of the songs. No Hiding Place, American Gangster Time, Drum and Bone, Flutter and Wow and Stella Hurt are favorites so far. I can't get my head around Turpentine and Song...

Re: Elvis when you least expect it

It's probably been mentioned before but I finally read 'Watchmen'. Didn't know that one of the chapters ends with a quote from The Comedians :). I hope all song quotes from the graphic novel will be included in the film. I mean - that would be something.

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

I agree with cwr about the fine aspects of not naming an album after a song title - still 'Momofuku' is a far cry from My Aim is True, Armed Forces, King of America, Blood & Chocolate, Brutal Youth etc. (but I kinda like 'Kojak Variety') :)
