Oh yeah, Mr. A...you said that so much better than I. And I have to ditto the part about your daughter too. My 13 yr. old daughter and her 13 yr. old cousin and I went jean shopping at the GAP just as the ad campaign launched. It is brilliant. The service at the GAP was great, they tried on a ton of...

And I'm very grateful to actually be able to carry out that excellent suggestion. I mean...well, because.......um, I still have both cans despite having had the cancer.
It makes perfect sense.

Going back to the commercial - has anybody actually seen it? Cause I just did for the first time. And umm... it's not that "Alison" is played in the commercial. We just see different people saying "My favourite song is..." and one of them says "My favourite song is 'Alison'...

Great interview, I enjoyed reading it very much. Elvis sounded very happy and just like a regular, normal guy. It was neat. He was asked about a couple of things that have been flying around through several threads on this board...the GAP deal in particular. And about the existence of, well, forums ...

Were the people on the GAP commercial other singer/songwriters? Is it like the Starbucks thing where Elvis picks some of his favorite songs? Cuz I really enjoy that CD. If this is the case, it doesn't seem AS bad as a NIKE or Pepsi commercial or something... Yes, they were. I'm going to say this de...

Verena~ I like the review for what it was. It captured a feeling and a moment (I said a moment ) in time and I thought it was expressed very well. I know you wouldn't know this but I'll just throw it in anyway.....I loved EC then and I still do after all these years. I think he's better than ever. I...

That is one of the greatest homages I've ever read to the Man. He definately captured a feeling that I've never been able to put into words.

The Nick Lowe story was pretty cool too.

[quote="verena"] Share your views on the quality of EC's selection of songs penned by others. Except that I don't know them all, only have a small handful of cds. But one thing I can tell, his version of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is the one I prefer, even to Ninaaah's (Simo...

the GAP

Hey, has anyone seen the new GAP commercial......where they're singing EC's "Alison"??
I was soooo surprized! So does E get money for that, like, every time it airs, or do you think he just made a deal w/the GAP and got a big hunk all at once?

Whoa there, Thomasso!! I never said you were an idiot and I don't think your comments are such either. I'm just disagreeing with something you said. Yeah, yeah, you're right, VG...I know he still uses the one with the yellow sticker on it and I did see him play it on the Today Show. I was talking about the (it's probably electric) guitar with Elvis Costello written in script down the neck. I was probably too far away to see that detail if he did...

Please let me clarify......I was acknowledging Thomasso's statement about EC's records having a concept or flow and therefore needing to have all the songs~good or not-so-good~to complete a record. I WAS NOT, however, agreeing in any way, shape or form with his statement about his pre-KOA work being...

In case you don't recognize that, it was from the tv show the Waltons. Anybody remember that one?
Just a memory from my childhood that made me chuckle.
