Must be good for your ego to know EC's release schedule was picked just because of your birthday! :D

Re: 'Lost Highway will release Momofuku from Elvis Costello'

Here's a live version of the album made from the Apr 23 Ryman torrent http://tinyurl.com/6f8zan Spooky had it playing this morning as I woke up. How do you download from there? Do you have to save them one at a time? I really wish we could have made the Ryman. We missed EC and Joe Jackson last week...

Re: Post Your Picture

No this was our first Renaissance Fair. Spooky has wanted to go for years to one and we just never managed to make it work. She is certainly in true form as the lovely damsel in distress as you can see here. The other is of all of us with the daughter at college replaced by one of th eboys friends. ...

Re: A special request

I should have posted by now but life has been extremely hectic. Spooky is going through a rough time. Since early December, it has just been one thing after another for her. She has given you all the details and I am just hoping for the best. The biopsy itself was bad enough for her. I love you Spoo...

Re: Scum Of the Earth

I am terribly sorry to hear this. It is really a horrible thing to have had happen. Were they OK on the flight home? It seems like the change in pressure could have hurt. Has she had a good head scan (MRI/CAT) since returning? Better to be safe than sorry. After all Spooky has been through, I don't ...

Board Software Updated

I just finished installing an update to the software that runs The Board. From the release notes, this update fixed two security issues and a number of things we never noticed. It did mention loading forum pages faster so see if you noticed that. It appeared to have updated quite smoothly. But as al...

I am sorry about your uncle. Remember the good times and try to get people to tell you the stories he wouldn't have ever told on himself whether out of humility or pride. :)

Re: Joe Jackson

Mine arrived Friday and I have listened to it while doing math and updating Pinewood Derby software. It sounds good but it deserves a better listen than I have given it so far. Spooky made sure I got the autographed edition from his website. :-D

I will post more after taking it to work.

Mick Jones/Tony James Interview

Hi, I had the pleasure of catching about 1/2 of this on the drive home today. They were both very light hearted during what I heard. Of course they are promoting a new CD from their group Carbon/Silicon which includes Leo Williams who "played bass with Jones in Big Audio Dynamite, and Dominic G...

Re: Random Thoughts

Should we welcome Majestic-12 [bot] to our little corner of the cyber universe? It's getting like Star Wars with all the bots we have in here... The bots were always here. The new board software just shows them prowling and the old software didn't. Nothing new.. just more visible now. Does it make ...

Yes. That would definitely be metaphorically... but sounds like a Freudian slip.

Re: FLAC to Audio CD - technical question

Never seen that before! Style! It was an amazingly cool thing to watch. The amp it was hooked to was the last model year before Sony announced a CD player. I am thinking that was about 1982. Thanks for hookups link. I may take this seriously at some point soon... I would think a cassette would be e...

Re: FLAC to Audio CD - technical question

This appears to be a decent explanation of what hookups are required. http://jos.nijmegen.internl.net/HowToConnect.htm Remember that many turntables required a preamp. I actually had to borrow one a few years ago when I tried to rip a few old LPs. Turned out my fancy front loading Sony turntable. It...

Re: FLAC to Audio CD - technical question

Thanks for the comparison. I knew Audacity was mainly an editor. It seems to be bundled a lot with the USB turntables. I haven't updated it in a long time but have you looked at CDEX? I used to use it as my primary way of ripping CDs to MP3s. It now supports FLAC. I don't remember doing anything spe...
