Re: All about the sound at Elvis's recent shows

The sound in Wallingford was pristine. No complaints from me. (or other people I asked who went to the same show)

Clubland included the Insensatez snippet, Shabby Doll began with the first line of Happiness Is A Warm Gun, and Pump It Up quoted Subterranean Homesick Blues.

14 out of 15 IB tracks. Little Savage at the piano with the ladies helping out. Incredible.

I have no desire to hear Imperial Bedroom the song. As long as I know I'm getting much of the album, I'll just have to dream of the album in order.

I am. Made the mistake at looking at the grid so far, and saw a few songs that haven't been played every night.

Re: Elvis's Worst Song And Why

I'll put in an early vote for "Sunday's Best". Why? The lyrics are a list, cobbled together quickly. The keyboards don't sound like any carousel I'd like to ride. And the drums sound like I could be playing them.

I've been saying for years -- or at least two record labels ago -- that he should sell his music directly to his fans. Pete Townshend did, Robert Fripp still does. But I think he still harbors some resentment for those of us who'll buy anything and everything.

I'd be interested in seeing an index, so I'll offer to help type. Also, how about captions for some of the photos? There's a shot in the book (not in front of me at the moment) of EC onstage next to a keyboard player who's definitely not Steve, Larry, Benmont, or anyone else I recognize.

Re: Glenn Tilbrook Discusses From A Whisper To A Scream (2015 show)

Great clip. Observations: 1. Nice how they're both playing guitars furiously without being plugged into anything. And Elvis is gamely "playing" the opening lead on his acoustic. 2. I love how Glenn pops into the frame for his first vocal. Cocaine's a hell of a drug. 3. Hopefully that's as ...

Considering that I've never seen physical evidence of the Pomp & Pout set anywhere, maybe -- just maybe -- I'll spring for this. If it's under $20. And I have the cash.

Re: New book: The Words and Music of Elvis Costello

I've read a few of these from this series (Zappa, Tom Waits, Van Morrison, etc.) They tend to be written from a fan's point of view, with a little more insight into music composition. As such, they're also more opinionated, and don't always have the facts us diehards might have at our grasp. Hopeful...

I'd love a copy of the Port Chester 11-11-13, just so I can hear my inappropriately timed "YEAH!" in the middle of "Ghost Train".

I still have my stack, stored in a box. It was a fantastic resource, particularly in the pre-Internet days. It also reminded me that I was nowhere near as fanatical about EC as I could have been. After over a decade (wow) I still hold out hope that Dave Farr will resume and finish his A to Z series....
