It was not hard to obtain one at the Chicago show at all. All 20 allocated copies were put out immediately, and they lasted all the way thru the show. I saw the last copy sold just as the merch stand was closing up after the show.

I'm not sure when (or if) it was ever announced, but Dawes was a no-show. There was no opening act, despite the fact ticket buyers were told when the tickets initially went on sale that Dawes would be part of the bill.

I've long felt it was very odd that this track wasn't included on the In Motion Pictures set. Granted, there were a lot of odd choices made on that set. It seems he purposefully withheld unreleased material from that collection. Perhaps wisely. I wouldn't doubt if he receives more money for this one...

Is this accurate? I've read a report that suggested he played "The Lovers That Never Were."

My initial attempt at reconstructing the set list from memory. It's possible I missed a song or two. The order is definitely dodgy. Re: Why no Official Flip City collection?

Ever since I read about the existence of, never mind heard, the song " Baseball Heroes ", I've kind of wondered why EC would have so much interest in American baseball -- an interested never to be evinced again -- as to write a whole song about it. Of course, UM&DI solved that little ...

The idea of "Sulfur To Sugarcane" with NOLA-style horns is a hoot. Wonder if he ad-libbed any new innuendo-laden lines for the song ("In New Orleans, the girls drop their jeans...")?

I still haven't bothered to break the shrink wrap of my copy. I wish I could say it was a deeply considered foresighted decision, but mostly it's just since there is nothing on it that I need to hear. It's a wonder I bought it in the first place.

Given the admiration he expresses for Georgie Fame in the book, I find it disappointing that he doesn't mention the song he wrote for him: "That's What Friends Are For." Anyone have any great quotes from Elvis about the song? https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&...

Re: T-Bone / Dylan project: Lost On The River

Hmm.. I'm wondering 'why does EC care so much about the director's vanity?' I mean the whole project was a scraping-of-the-bottom-of-the-barrel exercise from the get-go anyway, engineered by T-Bone and him, involving a few other enthusiastic musicians of the day, and had it not been documented in f...

Paul McCartney: Flowers In The Dirt Archive Collection

https://twitter.com/wogew/status/644922992481443840 The most likely place for some/all of the McCartney/MacManus demos to finally be released. With all the comments EC has made about wanting to see them issued, I strongly doubt he'll present any obstacles to them being included. Though I think it's ...

Re: New autobiography from Bruce Thomas , July 2015

I really enjoyed the passages the described the band teasing EC. Passages like the one devoted to when they goaded EC into playing the early version of "Man Out of Time" (a song Bruce goes out his way to praise in it's final incarnation) while shouting out the chords ("E-E-E-E-E"...

His account of the recording of "Betrayal" would have been a huge scoop ten or so years ago. Still fairly enjoyable.

Re: New autobiography from Bruce Thomas , July 2015

It's not very sensational, but one thing that stood out for me was his anecdote about "Chemistry Class." As far as I know, the consensus was that the repeated "accidents" in the lyric was an intentional gag. But Bruce presents a fairly convincing account that it was the result of...

My guess for a rarity that could appear is "Radio Soul." Especially if the set is meant to highlight aspects of EC's personal biography, as it could neatly represent his Flip City years. Furthermore, it's a song that has become a mainstay of his solo set, and he even recently mentioned tha...

Re: T-Bone / Dylan project: Lost On The River

The first volume was very evenly weighted towards each of the five artists involved. I don't think a second volume would have that luxury, resulting in EC and Taylor Goldsmith dominating the lion's share of the set. Does this possibility make a second volume less likely?

Can any other people who have the Demon edition of the 2005 KOA confirm which version of the demo they have? Re: South Bank Show: "The Making Of Almost Blue"

I've refrained from posting for the last couple days out of respect, but the Billy Sherrill of the SBS comes across as an extremely unpleasant person, not to mention a very disengaged producer. I find it notable that, as far as I know, BS is the only producer that EC has reflected upon in a clearly ...
