Re: Friends of Jesse Winchester, San Francisco, Oct. 5, 2012

Elvis played Black Dog with Buddy Miller! And he claimed not to even know the song or that it was old Led Zep number when he saw Buddy play it with Plant and Krauss a few years back. This I would love to hear...

Re: 2054 - The Centenary Show

My take would be that the Centenary Show is a gimmick and there's no shame in that. The Wheel's a gimmick too. Both freshen things up - and keep the numbers up. Richard Thompson does much the same thing with his Chrono Shows, Request Shows and 1000 Years of Pop Shows. He's more internet savvy - or i...

Re: The FINAL word on Bebe Buell stalking Elvis Costello

Blue Char must be away as I PMed him about this post when it first appeared a few days ago. The OP joined the same day and is likely the same person responsible for the linked website. Whatever the rights, wrongs or frankly total indifferences one might feel, that amounts to cyber bullying and haras...

Re: EC plays wedding reception in Park City, Utah, August 20

Two words meaning respectively 'good fortune' and 'born out of wedlock' immediately spring to mind. If the groom has been to100 EC shows I'm guessing he's been on this board at some point. Own up, who is it! Chapter and verse please...

Thanks again Dr for the set list - enjoyable show? I do wish those people on Facebook would show a little more discretion when they see someone shopping. Autographs and pics ok if situation's appropriate but this almost immediate posting and near real time tracking is intrusive and borderline. Call ...

Re: The FINAL word on Bebe Buell stalking Elvis Costello

Thanks for bringing this mucky stuff to our attention. It would seem to be the work of Coyote Shivers, Wikipedia says: 'Shivers was married to model and singer Bebe Buell from 1992 to 1997. He began dating actress Pauley Perrette in 1998, and they were married in 2000. Perrette and Shivers separated...

Re: Elvis plays Redding, CA Sept. 24 '12

Thanks to the good Dr. Hope it was a cracking gig, he can really shine solo and be generally breathtaking. Did he give much banter? From afar the set list not quite as adventurous as I'd imagined for first of much heralded Centenary shows but I think that feels very different if you're actually ther...

It's cold and pissing down in London so I think we should all club together and charter a jet. Failing that, I'm looking forward to reports from tonight's gig - enjoy!

Re: McCartney death myths

So I'm guessing the relevance of this is that EC and the Attractions all died in a freak accident involving a bass guitar, amp and a glass of beer (rumour has it that Bruce Thomas somehow survived by, er, getting out early). Of course this was hushed up and they were secretly replaced by EC and the ...

Re: 'a definitive documentary portrait of Elvis', 2013

Thanks for that John, my inclination would be that they'll complete two versions of the film, one 90 min and one 52 min (latter being length of an hour slot on commercial TV). The longer version would be for more indulgent broadcasters - presumably including BBC as they're a co production partner - ...

Then I'm late on the boat too, that version sounds great. There must be recordings of solo gigs in EC's archive that would make a good release, or two.

There has been a lot of genuine if sometimes qualified support for him in the thread as it's gone on and it's interesting to hear some of the civilians views as to when they feel he's been on top of his game - or not.

Well, therein lies a tale...as you may know those Brits took the music from imported black blues and rythm'n'blues records that came from your side of the pond.
