North is definitely his strongest collection in recent years, IMO, once you trim away the bonus tracks. The new tracks on the Dublin bootleg were the most Rock tracks, so that bodes well for the new album being a stronger effort than 'Profane.

Sad: John Ciambotti died. Played bass in Clover, known most for being Huey Lewis's old band, as well as a great band of its own.

Wasn't fortunate enough to see him as a Confederate, I did see him accompanying Shawn Colvin at Dublins Whelans in 1993. While mainly playing bass he also played a mean accordion that night, and nearly stole the show.
