Rocket scientists are a dime a dozen.. software is where the action is.

As an unrelated aside, I should apologize for losing all the user names that registered since the last backup. Bummer dude!

OK. I will admit it. I don't know what you are talking about. It may have been lost in the Great Board Crash of '04.

What is a hobnob? What is a Mike Doughty and where is Starr Hill?

Is this all legal?

A Shop-Vac is a very handy thing indeed. They work great on hardwood floors. And they can't be beat for vacuuming cars. We have one which is also a leaf blower. We don't use it that way often but it was handy when inflating a swimming pool for the kids. Don't forget to make sure it is wet/dry. One t...

I have most if not all of Joe Jackson's US original releases (few collections) including the 7 and 10" inch editions of the first two LPs. I haven't found much of his that I don't like including Jumpin' Jive and the instrumental work. I really liked his work on the Mike's Murder soundtrack. I w...

Christmas Shopping and The Board

This is a shameless plug... Just a note to let you know that we are in the process of setting up links to shopping sites like Amazon (US and UK), CD-Now and any others that you might suggest. If you have some Internet site in particular you plan to do some serious shopping, please let myself or Mrs ...

Thanks for the platonic smooches. :)

And thanks for tripping it so I got an email that the topic had been posted to. I don't know whether people will have to recheck that or not. It definitely works if you check it now though.

What do you think of all the nice logos?

The Return of The Fan Forum

Hi All, As you know, the site was broken into on November 27. Since that time, I have worked to restore a September backup and rehost the site on another computer that is dedicated solely to hosting The Fan Forum. This has some nice advantages. We now have no limits on bandwidth or disk space consum...

Speaking of food and graduate school. Right after I got my PhD, I taught a graduate class. On the day instructor evaluations were handed out, Spooky made brownies for the class and sent them with me. Needless to say, I got nice evaluations. :D I can still remember doing just about anything for a fre...

Happy Birthday Spooky

I just wanted to wish my very own Spooky Girlfriend a very special 40th birthday. It is an understatement to say that she means the world to me. Although married only 8 years, we have known each other over 20 and been through a lot together. She really is my soulmate. Since it is Monday, today is a ...

Man Called Uncle was used to introduce a John Kerry segment on David Letterman tonight. Congrats to Brilliant Mistake who managed to start a thread on it in the minutes it took me to confirm the short piece was Man Called Uncle.

Happy Birthday to THE MAN! It seems like just yesterday that I first saw a review of an EC LP in a Scholastic newsletter like Weekly Reader. That was either in the 6th or 7th grade back in the late 70s. He has been a constant in my musical life ever since. I can't imagine EC using the AARP discount ...

I have listened to a LOT of MIDIs the past day or so. I am just about convinced that music that was electronic or had that late 70s/early 80s keyboard sound is the best sounding. AC/DC and Queen seems to suck on phones. If it had a bass line, it seems to suck. I found a Rock Me Amadeus that sounded ...
