Re: Elvis and Allen play Liverpool, July 5 '07

Hi We drove past the Picket this afternoon and it's now got a bloody big, fantastic, mural running the length of the outside wall. Painted in tribute to the Liverpool / Ireland connection via the City of Culture celebrations. Elvis is depicted lifesize from the My Aim is True era ( did the artists p...

Re: American Without Tears

Hi I love this song too. I think this is a referrence to the method of learning foreign languages ( in this instance the pavement / sidewalk situation) which was popular in the UK during the 60's eg " Spanish / French / Italian etc Without Tears" think it involved listening to cassette tap...

Review from today's Liverpool Echo: "Eric’s, Everyman Theatre Sep 25 2008 by Joe Riley, Liverpool Echo THIS is the story of a dying man and an emerging music club. The club has long gone, the man survives. Writer Mark Davies Markham’s successful battle against leukaemia is set against the backd...

Re: Rockinghorse Road

Hi Pianoguy I love this song too. Respect to John who was on the nail . From the stage of the Royal Court Theatre on 12th December 1994, Elvis filled in the blanks mid song : “This song is about a little walk I took along the golden shore of New Brighton… [applause greeting name of the decaying reso...

Re: Elvis' early days in new Liverpool play

John Went to this show yesterday on opening night - fantastic! Mega nostalgia trip for those of us lucky (old) enough to have been to Erics when it was up and running.Recommended for anyone who has any affinity with the music of the day. Sadly there were notices on every seat requesting that we didn...

John

Obviously too late for the two cultural delights i mentioned, but Elvis will be playing here again next June / July to co-incide with his Ma's 82nd birthday on his single city tour of England.

Take care

Re: Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams CMT Crossroads REQ

Hi

I was wondering if you got a copy of the show via your post?

Sorry I can't offer you a copy, but I'd sure like to trade one if you did get lucky.

Have you got the audio of the show?

Best wishes

In My Liverpool Home

Hi everyone For almost a decade my EC live-show-collecting habit has been in remission. My traded cassette collection has sat contentedly in the loft as I’ve taken each day at a time. However Sulky Lad’s uploading of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra show has got me straight out of rehab. C...

Great show from where I sat too - d / 23 immediately in front of that nice Mr Foyle ( good to meet you John ). As a Philistine I was fearful of the classical - purist elements before the show. However i was delighted to be proven wrong. Perhaps the first "conventional" songs with the orch ...

Elvis may also feature on the Radio 2 show about Erics toninght : http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/musicclub/doc_ericsliverpoolclub.shtml I saw him play there in the early days. When it was closed down he was playing at the (relatively)nearby Floral Hall in Southport shortly after, and dedicated Goon Squ...
