Re: Steve Nieve - The Immobile Tour BackStage

Some people are chronic complainers....I'd say ignore this mess and maybe it will go away. However, i have been waiting and waiting.....  and it is still here. Some of us are prone to occassionally being grouchy, I'll cop to that one myself here and there. But, the downhearted nature an...

Re: C & N New York 1996 2CD - legit?

I bought this not really thinking about the thieves angle. Its very good quality and a great set having said that as I had only gotten tickets to the late show, (IT SOLD OUT QUICKLY if i recall), i prefer the late show. they were HOT that night. but, i think the early show was indeed a radio broadc...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

Hawk... please! You are surely confusing the sterility/vapidity of his recent 'band' efforts!! MAGIC has some high points, but the non cohesive efforts of WOAD, WRECKING BALL and HIGH HOPES are miles from what HUMAN TOUCH and moreso LUCKY TOWN presented. The last 30 years have been peppered with som...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

There are tours I'd rather see releases from first, like some 1986 shows, but I'd love to get a Rude 5 live release. I kind of doubt it will happen, though, unless they start releasing a TON of stuff from the vaults. I love their MTV Unplugged set and any of the clips from 1991 I've seen on YouTube...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

I want some Rude 5 gigs! Both the 1989 and the 1991 versions would be nice. No no no never the 1991 lineup- leaden, plodding and unsubtle- possibly the worst show I ever saw was in 1991 !! for sure...Madison Square Garden was a disaster! good enough for us die-hards, but horribly plodding I...

Re: 50 Songs For 50 Days - Elvis Costello's October Surprise

I was lucky to see it the 3 1996 shows i attended in D.C. and NYC twice. My quick listens to share this expeditiously for you this morning had me judge this one best. MAY I ASK HAWK....despite not being audiophile quality, my SONY cassette has a certain charn, yes? My age old comparison...IT SOUNDS ...

Re: 50 Songs For 50 Days - Elvis Costello's October Surprise

Achingly beautiful for such a short piece of music. One short verse, two chorus and then done. Maybe he felt he never finished it??? but, i say PERFECT as is. AND assuredly, anyone who has never heard it (and I imagine that is many as he had only played it a dozen or so times and all in 1996!) deser...

i want....FAR FROM THE PRIZE!!! With you. Perhaps the most poignant and beautiful of all his (so far) unreleased songs. Re: Elvis in Mojo #324

spanish? It's possible. On balance, I'd put my money down on a deluxe box-set with all the bonus tracks from the 2002 Rhino set plus a bunch of other demos/out-takes, and Hollywood High as a separate disc. didn't we get HOLLYWOOD HIGH completely as a stand alone release in between SECRET, PROFANE a...

Re: New song “Hey Clockface / How Can You Face Me’, sept 11, 2020

A decent song on first listen, very Jimmie's, Voice in the dark and Sulphur to sugarcane. The voice isn't great but we have to remember like all of us old father time is catching up with the great man. What is he 66 now? I think the way EC sings has always taken it out of his voice. Someone mention...

I’d never heard the word scansion until I read your post! It's the metal structure at the back of a football goal ! ANd don't forget Bruce's amazing playing on the fade out of "Home Is Anywhere...." stanchion??? scansion has something to do with poetry according to my quick google search.
