Re: Blood and Chocolate Survivor - Final Round

Well, it looks like it may happen -- the only ec song i REALLY dislike might top the pops. It could be worse, you could be VG and find Deep Dark Truthful Mirror is voted the best ever EC song ! I assume you share Bruce Thomas' views of the melodrama of fingernail dragging down the wall.

And if the vote does get rid do we ask 'I hope you're happy now'?

Re: Do you have a favorite EC concert?

First night of the residency at the Royalty Theatre London 1986. First time I’d travelled outside Ireland to see EC & the A’s. Intimate venue. Stellar set, all but one track from Blood and Chocolate played and a 1-2-3-4 encore punch, then the stroboscopic unsettling closer of Poor Napoleon/Inst...

the BBC is running a painting programme with Bob Ross and his accent is gorgeous - if he started reading to us, we'd soon fall asleep!
I have no idea what region he comes from but it's lovely to listen to.
Sorry to divert from the original thread though!

Re: Do you have a favorite EC concert?

... overall, I think the Royal Court gig just before Christmas 1982 –- is my winner. Wow - I'd forgotten about this one, that was indeed a wonderful night with The Imperial Horns. Goes to show how lucky we've been to experience these epics. Mortified that I never saw EC with any horn section in 82/...

Re: Do you have a favorite EC concert?

I don't disagree. I will say, however, that the songs themselves were gracefully liberated from the unfortunate clutches of Goodbye Cruel World in one fell swoop. Having seen three solo shows in April/May '84, I was fairly bemused upon release of the new album. I played along -- it was well above m...

I think that concert more than any other convinced me that Elvis was more than just a pop star and that his songs, which had withstood all the Attractions could throw at them could then stand naked as solo performances and still sound magnificent ... > Exactly. Subtitles for The Royle Family ? Really? Y'all talk funny. As someone from the far south west of England, i can vouch for funny accents !! One I have yet to vote out - as with all but one track on the album, I love this song! And the one I don't love (Honey Are You...) I still like an awful lot. Anyway, everyone else has saved me the pain of giving this bird the chop. I will continue to vote out the one that still won't disappear! Gro...

Re: Elvis on Die Harald Schmidt Show on SAT1 TV

Amazing coincidence, I've been on the Harald Schmidt site yesterday looking to add this to my updates of 2002 live performances and then this is brought up by MOOT! The ending to WIWC2 is somewhat abrupt compared to the usual fade out employed as Elvis turns down the loops. Further to my initial pos...

Re: Blood and Chocolate Survivor - Round 4

Hello, Next Time Round always seemed lightweight to me. But I admit I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box when it comes to understanding Elvis' lyrics. Can any of you who seem to hold the song in high esteem elaborate on why, lyrically, you hold it in such high esteem? It's about a guy with an unf...

Ditto, although I’d put it in my top 1. I agree Verbal. There have been some shocking early exits in these polls but this one is the strangest in my book. I remember passing a comment about it sounding like a joke after the gig at Southampton in March and Elvis overheard me and gave me "the eye". That doesn't mean I've changed my mind - sounds more like an idea from Mr. Krys!
