Re: Elvis's Liverpool, Feb. 2005

The Residents Social Club looks like the inside of the hotel I stayed in in Carlisle on my recent jaunt around the U.K. - don't ask why I stayed in Carlisle ?!!!

Re: John Oliver on what Coronavirus has done to Liverpool F.C.

Sulky, tempted as I am to your solution - much more than the likely outcome - I feel it's too simplistic approach. Clearly to be awarded the big prize there needs to be a range of factors taken into consideration. I truly believe that any club which can satisfy all these tests truly deserves to be ...

For ColinTB's benefit and definitely not for Goon Squad's I think the fairest way the League can solve the crisis is to award the Premiership based on the Alphabet - another title for my beloved Gooners, you see !! :D :D :D

Re: Elvis and the Imposters play Southampton Mayflower Theatre - 1st March 2020

I had to look up the meaning of "purple patch." I never heard that before. What's the origin? No idea - I'm guessing that Purple is associated with royalty and more especially Imperialism and that was because the cost of the dye used to make anything purple was inordinately expensive - I ...

Good old Neil - great comment!
Mrs Sulky and I both retired at the end of February and now we’re both anticipating an early recall back to the NHS !! Just my luck - first cancellations in 2018 was bad enough but expecting now a resumption of our careers.

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

For the record, I think the seemingly constant need from many quarters to politicise the current crisis is unnecessary. Agreed. When Wayne Rooney has to make an anti- government point about it, it’s clearly gone too far. I’m no Tory but I thought the response in the press conference on Thursday was...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

I wonder how much of the cancellation was driven by the need to get home before the flight restrictions from the UK to the US kicks in. No need to hang around seeing Liverpool crowned champions anymore Just time for a quick trip to see his mum then on to the airport. For the record, I think the see...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)

In light of the Oxford announcement, the bad news is the AXS have sent a message to say all 3 dates have been postponed and information on rescheduled dates will be announced in 2 weeks. Personally it’s difficult to see when new dates would be rearranged. Nobody has any idea how long and what impac...

Re: New release based on one of Elvis Costello and the Attractions most celebrated albums!!

He said it is This Year's Model on stage tonight in Manchester! Makes sense. In fact, i wouldn’t be surprised he had the idea after reworking “This Years Girl” for The Deuce a couple years ago with Natalie Bergman. Maybe it grew directly out of that experiment? Elvis and his producer Sebastian Krys...

Most importantly- Elvis announced from the stage that Sebastian Krys is remixing a version of This Year’s Model with Elvis’ voice being taken off it and “it’ll blow you mind “ - to which I have to say - what’s the point ?? Sometimes Elvis sings “the End OfThe Road” and sometime”We’ve Come To TheEnd Of The Road”. I’m Not sure if we’ve discussed this elsewhere but I think the consensus was that it was the Gladys Knight song although I read somewhere that another Mowtown legend was responsible for the original ( Marvin G...
