Re: "Shut Him Down" - single by Michael Leonhart Orchestra, Elvis Costello & JSWISS

The New York sessions were produced by composer, arranger and trumpet player, Michael Leonhart in collaboration with guitarists, Bill Frisell and Nels Cline and completed, lyrically and vocally by Costello, “via Electrical Wire.”

"Electrical wire", is that the same as telefax? Stop pr...

Re: C & N New York 1996 2CD - legit?

This hasn't been released commercially so is probably a bootleg -the late show from 22 May is available from the wiki as FLAC files and the early show was released as a bootleg set called Between Wisdom And Murder. I'm sure there are people who have this and could let you have a copy without any exp...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

It would be great if the Armed Forces set included a remix, even with a blu-ray with a 5.1 remix. It is all the rage nowadays. Though Armed Forces doesn’t really need a remix - Get Happy!! would benefit from one definitely. I dunno... Get Happy!! sounds great if you listen to the two disc 45 rpm pr...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

There are tours I'd rather see releases from first, like some 1986 shows, but I'd love to get a Rude 5 live release. I kind of doubt it will happen, though, unless they start releasing a TON of stuff from the vaults. I love their MTV Unplugged set and any of the clips from 1991 I've seen on YouTube...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

I want some Rude 5 gigs! Both the 1989 and the 1991 versions would be nice. No no no never the 1991 lineup- leaden, plodding and unsubtle- possibly the worst show I ever saw was in 1991 !! in a way, your comments makes it even more interesting :-) There's a first time for everything, even m...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

I guess my biggest concern is that the live stuff will just be professionally remastered stuff that’s already out there rather than some rarer exclusive material. I remember him saying all his shows were recorded going back around the late 80s so you’d hope there might be a different vest of concert...

Re: Armed Forces Redux - 6 record set

Just out of interest, was Armed Forces the most commercially successful of all his early albums? I know they had shed-loads of copies of Get Happy! left over ( giving away freebies of the LP with the sale of the "From Head To Toe" EP ) but is it the one most likely to sell well (profitably...

It seems Mrs. MacManus is also releasing material to make up for lack of performance revenue and a retrospective of "Gimme Some Truth" is released on what would be John Lennon's 80th birthday - unthinkable!

Re: Elvis in Mojo #324

Funny he didn't contact me about the 40 year anniversary live recordings  - 1979 had quite a few high quality soundboard/Pre FM concerts which would have tied in with the other re-re-releases with a live concert as the second disc. There were a few tracks as bonuses from one of the Palomino Cl...

No doubt someone will list them all at the end of the 50 days  and we can make a compilation - if we want.
The text will probably be of most interest apart from any new material and I eagerly await that in the form that makes easy reading in one

I now LOVE this song! On first listen his voice struck me as ragged. But now that I'm used to the song, I don't even notice it, and think it all sounds great. It's such a great, old-fashioned melody and the playing from everyone and the production are fantastic. How about that piano sound? How abou...

Sounds like I'm in the minority here. This is my favorite song off the new album (so far). I liked it when EC debuted it on Steve's Facebook Immobile Tour earlier this Summer and really love the arrangement. Now, in full transparency, I also greatly enjoyed Elvis singing "Let's Misbehave"...

Re: New song “Hey Clockface / How Can You Face Me’, sept 11, 2020

Agreed Elvis's voice is showing signs of age now, but there's nothing anyone can do about that - it happens to everyone (apart from Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey - not saying that cos they come from The Land of Song, it just seems that their voices refuse to lose their power). I think this song is e...
