Re: Misheard Elvis lyrics and hello

From Big Boys, I always thought it was " I was down upon on knee, stroking a manatee"

- which fitted in with my aquarium fixation later in the song about being stuck on a hammer head (shark ) !

Be careful SL. You might end up with an old school bootleg. Including printing errors, wrong songtitles and forged pictures

Hey, krm, that's what I still dream of finding in old record shops even now !

Of course, we'd willingly pay for an official copy and as BA says, especially $30 for a vinyl copy !

Re: What is 'The Beat' about ?

So if it is about wanking, what does the stuttering rhythm mean - it's not like slowly building to a climax (pun intended) , and the little instrumental bit ( especially noticeable on live performances between 1977-79) all have a sort of staggering movement. I don't want to proclaim or indeed infer ...

Re: Mobile Fidelity to re-release Get Happy

I've got the promo double "EP" set of get happy on vinyl which I think has 5 songs a side ( makes my simple mathematical brain look rather good the way i divided 20 by 4 there !) but I've only played it once since I shelled out a kings ransom for them back in the late 80s at a record fair....

To be fair, I did know they were playing the first album completely but I was stunned by the people who came and stayed for "Food For thought" and "King" but then struck up their conversations during the lesser known tracks - as though they were surprised by the choice of materia...

Re: New Gig Thread

Took Mrs.Sulky for a belated birthday present to De Montfort Hall, Leicester last night for her second gig of the year watching UB40. Confirmed my opinion of them in 1984 (or1983) when I saw them at The Cornwall Coliseum, St. Austell - dreadful. An audience who screamed when the title of a song was ...

I couldn't wait until November when I could play Christmas In The Heart - I so love that album though probably for all the wrong reasons and I had been brought up to believe only King's College, Cambridge were the only performers fit to record Christmas music !

Elvis only has 7 weeks to get Bruce's phone number if he's going to celebrate 30 tears since Get Happy and perform that live   Of course, if Bruce is still finding his existential truth up a mountain somewhere, my Epiphone is already in tune and I know Get Happy back to f...

Re: Double Albums

I'm not sure I agree about the last three albums being double albums Only heavyweight prog rock bands in the 70s released double albums with 3 tracks or less on each side of vinyl. The real judgment as to what's a double album should surely be about length of album. After all, most "hi-fi"...
