Re: Ever been 5 consecutive cancellations before???

His concert schedule have been crazy the last 10 years. I had tickets for the cancelled Malmö show and now the one in Aalborg. Once in Hamburg he was pretty hoarse (and had cancelled a few shows prior) and once in Copenhagen (summer 2010) he should have left the building before the show started ins...

Re: Elvis (solo), Vaerket, Denmark, 27 Sept. '14

Great evening at a very fine venue. The closest I've been to see EC solo was the North tour with Steve Nieve and until last night that was the most talkative and laid-back EC I had experienced. But in Randers he seemed extraordinarily happy and pleased with almost everything. The crowd was surprisin...

Re: "Elvis Costello: Mystery Dance" docu., Danish tv Sept 7

Happy to hear there is a longer version out there. I found the one hour version respectful but too brief and rushed. But difficult to judge from a fan point of view. Best parts are, of course, the interviews with EC. "Steve Nieve can easily dominate a whole song if you let him." Or somethi...

Got tickets for Randers! Row 13 center. (though the worst Danish city he could pick from my own geographical point of view)

Re: Music recommendations

I just gave the different tracks a short listen. Buck 65 seems rather essential already (though it's sold out on Amazon), I liked the First Aid Kit song (very She and Him/Jenny Lewis-ish but with a better vocal(s) it seems)- they are playing in Copenhagen tonight actually... The Lee Morgan-tune is c...

Re: Music recommendations

I feel a lot like the intro from Poor Deportee. I can't find any new geniuses let alone really good albums. I think I'm gonna buy the Buck 65 album and start listening to Jill Barber (and give Gillian Welch a more serious try) - at least is sounds a lot different than the usual stuff I hear when i t...

Music recommendations

With very useful recommendations sites out there - like Goodreads for books and Criticker for movies - I can't find anything similar for music. Does anyone know of a site? And since people here tends to have a great taste in music can anyone recommend any must-hear albums? I'm going on maternity lea...

Two Danish reviews - one 5/6, one 4/6 (the reviewer calls Olivers Army and New Lace Sleeves for empty rocksongs... That kind of guy)

Re: Elvis at Musikfest Aarhus, June 2, 2012

Danish interview before tonight's concert in Aarhus. it has a rather strange mood about it. Somehow I can't use Google translate from this device - hope someone else can. Now, off to Aarhus. Artikel / Interview / Lørdag d. 02-06-2012 kl. 07:00 Elvis Costello: Intet i popmusikken er genialt Kvinder i...

Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.

I finally got the dvd/cd - problem is that i'm stuck, having just watched the dvd for the third time (all with headphones) and haven't even heard the cd yet. But there are so many highlights: Every Day i write the book, I want you, Stella Hurt, Alison and Earthbound. What's the story about the latte...

Re: Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

Yeah, I'm always curious about Elvis's popularity. In 1994 I went to see him at the Royal Albert Hall, and it definitely wasn't full - but it does appear to be sold out on Wed 23rd May next year. Does that simply mean that the tickets have been sold to lots of different agencies, though? I usually ...

Re: Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

I know he isn't a huge name in many peoples mind (most people here know him by name but can't name a single song) but what I don't understand is lesser or similar names selling out all the time in Copenhagen. Unless its the ticket price thats usually much lower than 200 dollars. What still puzzles m...

Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

Maybe this is discussed elsewhere but the recent reports from EC's solotour and the upcoming concert in Malmö (where I'm going) made me wonder about a few things. - How does EC feel about playing in front of 500 people when there is room for 2.600 (as in Praque)? From the reports he gives it everyth...
