Re: Armed Forces Survivor - Round 5

Armed Forces was the first Elvis album I bought, shortly after it came out (I finally persuaded myself to buy it because of the bonus Live at Hollywood High EP). Accidents Will Happen lured me in, but Senior Service set the hook in deep. It was the song that made me an Elvis fan. I'm sorry to see it...

Re: Armed Forces Survivor - Round 2

For those of us in the States, we heard Sunday's Best on Taking Liberties, where it seemed to be a better fit. I think it's a good song, but doesn't really feel like it's part of Armed Forces.

Re: This Year's Model Survivor (Round 8)

Am I the only one who voted for Lip Service the last 5 rounds? I mean, it's a fine song, but it shouldn't be the one ordering another round at the bar while Radio Radio calls it an early night.

Re: which of these two long players is MORE of a clunker?

BA... I, for one, wholly approve of (occasionally) polling people on "worst"s in regard to EC, or any artist. A while back I'd asked the Wiki crew to name his three worst songs, and I got some really indignant responses. My attitude has always been that, yes, this is a fan's site and we'r...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff , March 16, 2020

I was talking last month to a friend of mine who is a concert promoter here in the States. He was telling me that things won't start up again until sometime in the spring of 2021. People--promoters, bands, fans--aren't willing to make a commitment this year to squeeze themselves into an enclosed spa...

..... does anyone else find Muriel’s interruptions really irritating? "Really irritating" is a bit strong I think. The whole thing is what it is. So looking forward to the next 50..... This captures it for me. I've watched every one, and I think you just need to get into the feeling of be...

I'm happy to be running this poll, and I would very much like to continue this series with his other albums from his first ten years. (No offense to the albums after Blood and Chocolate.) Yes, thanks for doing this--torturous fun! Although I was hoping you might choose a latter-day album at some po...

This one's going to be tough, since I consider side one to be a perfect album side, and side 2 isn't very far behind. Just like with Imperial Bedroom, the first one is easy.

The others, well...

It was fun, but I too wouldn't mind a little more time during the rounds.

This was a hard one because after Little Savage, I really like all the songs.Tough to see Tears Before Bedtime fall so early.

Re: Top 3 Elvis Costello Album Covers?

I think it can be hard to separate one's feelings for the music from their appreciation of cover art. I've tried my best to do that here: (1) When I was Cruel (2) This Years Model (3) Brutal Youth These are definitely not my top 3 musically, but they're my favorite covers. That's so true. It's toug...

Re: Steve Nieve - The Daily Improvisation

Being busy with homeworking and kids I've not had time to catch up with these yet - any good tunes we should know about? Plenty. Today started with Black Sails in the Sunset and ended with Favorite Hour. Most every day we get a couple of Elvis tunes, some of Steve's solo songs/pieces, and some fun ...

These have been wonderful. On the first day we got some of London's Brilliant Parade and April 5, among lots of other things. It's very kind of Steve to share his talents during our global isolation.

Re: Look Now: new album announced!

I remember quite clearly how painful it was back in 2010 for National Ransom to seem to disappear without hardly a trace of recognition and how that disappearance, I'm embarrassed to say, slowly eroded some of my own love of it (it really is time I pulled NR out again). I recall some speculation he...
