I think my friend, Mereubu (from the Frank Black forum) was the first to send them to me. They are all really funny. I love the Biscuit Song which was recently posted there. The music is all really nice and the guy who owns the site does a lot of it himself. I wonder if he is single? Mug's so...

Was also going to say Liz Phair EXILE IN GUYVILLE and also possibly BLACK LETTER DAYS by Frank Black and the Catholics. Also their self-titled record is really excellent.

BLUE by Joni Mitchell is another great one.

I would add Seabiscuit. What a clunker. Maybe I am just not carefree enough. The constant straining background music drove me CRAZY and the intercut documentary was interesting but interrupted the flow and was obviously for people who never heard of this little thing called "The Depression"...

Well, I was trying to think of who you could have meant, but I was drawing a blank. I couldn't picture you crying over Jack Klugman though. He did have a nice quote about Mr. Randall (which I can't find right now) - about refusing to accept a world with no Tony Randall in it. :( My mom and I were sa...

Even more remarkable when you consider this quote from him: "I figured a lot of drummers were doing things with two hands that could be done with one. What was needed was a flow of rhythm all over the set. I never learned any tricks, anything flashy - like juggling sticks or throwing them up in...

I saw Elvin Jones with his band about four years ago at the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, MA. It's weird b/c I have been thinking about that night a lot lately for other reasons and then I heard he had passed away. I am happy I was able to see him play.

I'm actually listening to a very old compilation made for me by Miss selfmademug. Current song is RICK JAMES STYLE by the Lemonheads, next up is SWALLOW MY PRIDE by the Ramones. It's a good work CD.

For Russell Crowe movies before he got all bloated - LA Confidential is great too. Also good b/c it's before Kevin Spacey lost his mind to fame.

And I can't believe I forgot Usual Suspects. I LOVE the entire cast of that movie - Kevin Pollack and Stephen Baldwin are both really underated and great.

I'm anti-list right now, but I must say I was blown away by watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for the first time last night, and if I was on Desert Island DVDiscs right now, I would choose that, and then I could learn some Mandarin too. It's stunningly original, mouth-watering to watch, beuat...

Royal Tennenbaums Lost in Translation Say Anything (there was a period of about three years where I watched this once a month) I could think of many for #'s 4 and 5 and I think I am missing some crucial ones - but one in my head is Willy Wonka, mostly for nostalgic reasons. I also love the Princess ...

Yes, we saw Frank three times together (including the J.P. time) and Liz twice. I saw her the third time in the summer, you were away. I think you forgot the Smoking Popes - didn't you see them twice? And also, Morrissey more than once?

Frank Black (& the Catholics) - 6 times
Elvis Costello - 3 times - all with Miss. Mug!
Liz Phair - 3 times

I think those are the only people I've seen multiple times, aside from random local bands.

Maybe it is not true for the UK version of the soundtrack - but in the US the soundtrack contains a hidden track at the end of Bill Murray singing "More Than This" - which was one of my favorite parts of the movie.

Can't wait for the DVD!
