For the first time, I'm skipping an EC show. It's at IU's Assembly Hall, which I'm sure will be a kick-ass venue. But, it's also Homecoming weekend. Being a Hoosier (of sorts) myself, I know what happens to Bloomington during this weekend. It's less than an hour's drive from Indy, but it's just not ...

Lucky barstid.

The closest I'll come to New Orleans is the Indy Jazz Fest in June: the Wynton Marsalis Septet (eee!), the Neville Brothers (Eeeeee!!) and Dr. John (EEEE!!!!), all on one day. Bonnie Raitt is playing the Fest the evening before that as well. Indy's kinda cool sometimes!!

congrats! I wish I could be there for the weekend before Mardi Gras--that city has an energy like nothing else on earth around that time.

Any chance you're planning on returning for good some day?

This was the first V-Day I'd had where I was actually in a good relationship with a great guy, so I went all out. I made a swanky dinner (bay scallops with linguine and homemade vodka sauce!), and bought my honey his favorite Batman comics. I went to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner, and sa...

Got to love 'The Night Tripper'! Great talent! He also worships AT and PLH. There is nothing freakier and more mindblowing than listening to Dr. John's first album for the first time. One of the funkiest pianists of the south--with one of the sexiest voices. EC was a great addition to an "inte...

Oh, thank GOD someone finally said it! I was not at all impressed with "Crash"--the concept was noble enough, but the execution was just a mess. My boyfriend and I watched "Hustle and Flow" this weekend for the first time, and he's completely in love with the idea of Terrence How...

RIP Coretta Scott King

She died in her sleep late last night, and was found by her daughter. She was 78.

A woman who continued the legacy of civil rights with quiet grace and dignity is gone. The void she leaves is impossible to fill.

I missed y'all. Anyway, it's easy to dismiss Kanye West as another cocky rapper with his hand on his balls instead of over his mouth, where it probably should be. It's mighty easy to call him out for being (one of my favorite words, courtesy of my Dad) "nignorant" by saying G-Dub doesn't c...

I think a lot of kids had this experience: digging around in my dad's record collection, and finding Pryor's albums. Putting them on the turntable and playing them as quietly as possible, then getting caught and yelled at for listening to "such dirty mess". Being sent to my room...and bein...

Halloween Pictures!

Most of the grownups celebrated Halloween this weekend. I was well enough to walk around, so my boyfriend and two friends went to a club in Indy that was having a comic book-themed party. I was a "hot little devil", my friend Laura was Naughty Red Riding Hood, Denitra was a 70's blaxploita...
