Re: Trust Survivor - Round 8

Big Sister's Clothes - what a weird and wonderful song. I mean, what is that intro? It's brilliant. And the opening line is typical Elvis Costello: 'Sheep to the slaughter - oh, I thought this must be love.' Typical juxtaposition of sour and sweet. And some classic Costello - 'she's got eyes like s...

AMEN, my friend. I always said maybe not audiophile quality my old SONYs, but they nearly always felt just like the room the show was played in on those nights. YOU ARE THERE!!

That’s very cool Bronx - and man there is some atmosphere going on in that recording. ATMOSPHERICS in my 16 year old cassette recording or in the cheesy filming of its playback from earlier today??? :D :D we've all heard worse, i know. Just a souvenir...i felt it important to share ASAP. Hope you e...

Well, "Steve's twinkly bits" isn't exactly Lester Bangs but thank you for the compliment, BA!

but the bit about the tune dropping out of the air as the vocals start is SHAKESPEARIAN however!!! 8) 8)

Re: Trust Survivor - Round 6

From a Whisper is fabulous and I love the pairing of Glenn's angelically sweet voice and Elvis's brutal barnstorming. White Knuckles is an astounding arrangment, melody, the playing, the singing. I love the way the vocal starts, like the melody has dropped out of the air. Steve's twinkly bits and t...

How could anyone understand that WHITE KNUCKLES was voted out??? It's a masterwork...lyrically, arrangement, production, THAT band playing, the bridge!!! JUST maybe the best song from the album!!! What offends me secondly in this truly criminal activity, after the theft of EC music FOR MAJOR PROFIT is this. It is probably a taper fan who shares recordings captured freely whose shows are compiled here from this Port Chester run. Utterly terrible...calling down kharma on this mess.

Re: Armed Forces Survivor - Round 2

I think I'm right in saying that 'Sunday's Best' was written with Ian Dury in mind, and you can totally see this being on New Boots and Panties album. I think it's a great satirical song, and the waltz vibe with the sarcastic litany of horrors in the lyrics makes it a success, I'd say! But it's har...
