Re: Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers - Berkeley, CA, Greek Theatre June 3 2017

The difficulty I have in appreciating a new song is that I spend the first 3/4s of it wracking my brain trying to figure out whehter it is some obscure Momofuku outtake that is going to make my setlist incomplete. I jot down lyrical snippets in hopes the internet will save me later. What I have from...

Re: 'Bright Blue Times' - vinyl single - 500 on sale at latest shows, June 2017

At the Berkeley show tonight, the woman at the table sold what she said was the last copy to my brother, but it wasn't clear whether she meant it was the last copy available for tonight's show or the last copy available.

Re: Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers - Berkeley, CA, Greek Theatre June 3 2017

First, a report on the vinyl. My brother bought what the lady at the table said was the last copy of Bright Blue Times, and that the song was going to be played tonight. I don't know if she meant the last copy available at this show or the last one available. In any event, the song was not played to...

Re: Elvis Costello in translation

There was a book published about the time of All This Useless Beauty of Elvis lyrics published in Italian. I can't recall the name and Amazon/Ebay don't seem to list it. One of my long regretted passed-up purchases at Tower Outlet in San Francisco.

So of the 438,300 hours you've existed (give or take given the time zone difference), what percentage of them have been spent on matters Elvis-related?

One of my great regrets is passing up on a book of Elvis' lyrics translated into Italian, circa ATUB, which was available cheap at the Tower Outlet (RIP) in San Francisco.

Re: EC Guest Narrator with SF Symphony Jan 16-18, 2015

Granted, I'd probably give a positive review of Elvis hawking juicers at Tesco, but it was fun to see him, Malcolm McDowell and Nick Gabriel 's spoken word performance (though MTT gave them a run for their money as King). At first, Elvis' part was a little stilted, but he's eventually given the free...

Re: What are Elvis's favourite venues?

He is a frequent performer at the Bridge School concerts, but Shoreline is an awful outdoor venue. He has seemed to enjoy the Great American Music Hall in SF when he has played the Austin DeLone benefits. I remember one time that the venue influenced the set list: at the Fillmore, he responded to a ...

Re: Elvis writes song for Darlene Love album

Darlene Love is giving a free concert in San Francisco today. At the pre--concert talk, I fed Ben Fong-Torres a question about the new album and the song Elvis wrote. According to Darlene, Elvis has written two new songs and they were both custom-written for her.

Unfortunately, show #1 is the only one I'll attend. I arrived 5 minutes early only to find Elvis into his ...
