What with being to busy having a good time to go online and all that I'm only catching up up with things here. I've little to add to previous accounts except that it seems to have been the most thorough of the various engagements to promote the book. Elvis's comment re Cait was one of his more emph...

Re: Elvis Back in Top 10

The book is up in the charts this week. From #9 to #7 and the New York Times hardcover list and #15 to #13 on the combined print and and ebook list.

I'd say we have a hit here.

Re: UNFAITHFUL MUSIC & DISAPPEARING INK - Oct. 2015

I'm through about 5 chapter and finding it really enjoyable. One of many interesting things: EC quotes some lyrics from "Man Out of Time" as follows: "To murder, my love, is a crime" The addition of commas completely changes the meaning of the lyric in a way I hadn't thought of....

Well, this is just weird. People on other fora have been commenting on how good he looks these days and how unflappable he has been on the book tour stops, some of which have hit a few snags. Example: The interviewer at the NYPL appearance was pretty much a disaster (in a benign sort of way), but EC...

John, thank you for sharing that piece from the WSJ- of the many that I have read, it comes off as a balanced assessment and knowledgeable at the same time. Well, knowledgeable for a review that gets Ross's(!) name wrong and turns EC's uncle into an aunt. I thought the WSJ review was one of the lea...

Re: Bibliophiles: Elvis Costello, musician

COSTELLO: I don’t read exclusively about musicians, but two of my favorite books are memoirs by musicians, one by the composer Hector Berlioz and “Beneath the Underdog” by the jazz bassist Charles Mingus. I was wondering what EC considered a really first-rate memoir by a musician. Unfortunately, I'...

Re: Mystery songs on ASCAP site

"No Star" gets mentioned, and quoted, in the memoir. EC says it was written around the same time as, and is of a piece with, "Poison Moon" and "Jump Up": The last in this group of songs was a more ambitious piece called “No Star,” about the absence of any lucky, guiding...

I was hoping there was a way to take the Spotify playlist and dump it out as a text list of song titles and artists. I don't feel like signing up for Spotify to get a look.

Can someone who has Spotify give us a list of the songs, if that's not too much of a PitA?

I'm not sure the reviewer's version of the Accidents will happen story is correct, going by the way Elvis has told the story onstage in the last year. Still, I haven't read the book. I haven't read the book, either, but I think we got the family-friendly version of the story from the stage. Reminds...

There's no interviewer listed for this one because this is a book signing. So is the one on October 14 at Bookcourt in Brooklyn. The rest of the book promo dates, including the two in the UK, are interviews where you have the option to buy a pre-signed book.

Re: UNFAITHFUL MUSIC & DISAPPEARING INK - Oct. 2015 - first review

The memoir completes its tour of the big US book trade journals, with reviews in Booklist and Publishers Weekly. Booklist gave it a starred review and put it on its list of Best Adult Nonfiction of 2015. Interestingly, they also recommend it for "young adults" (that is, teenagers, usually ...

Yeah, he specifies "he offered me the chance to come in and make some solo recordings while he twiddled the dials. I would get a demo reel out of the deal." He then mentions that Robinson "hatched a scheme to record Flip City for a one-off single of "Third Rate Romance," a ...

Re: Book promo, London , October 29th 2015

I was almost hoping the interviewer might be London resident, fellow recent memoirist, and EC's contemporary and sometime pal -- Chrissie Hynde. She could give him some tips on how to make internet-melting remarks to help shift copies.
